A series of stills taken from Norio Nakagata's personal VHS recording. The broadcast TV segment details Namco's 'Robot Band PiCPAC'! Always so exciting to see new glimpses of Shigeki Toyama's timeless designs! ✨
In 2022 I made a video detailing the story of 'PiCPAC', a fascinating lost robot band created by Namco in 1984. Today, I'm excited to share a brief (but v exciting) addendum. Thanks to @nkgt5, we now have footage of one of PiCPAC's first public appearances! Links below! ⬇️🤖🎶
There's been a lot of talk about '80s animatronic bands over the years, like The Rock-a-fire Explosion and Chucky Cheese Etc. (probably because of FNAF), but one that's been all but forgotten is Namco's robot band PicPac.
They've not had much press in the west, just a brief cameo in Namco Museum Vol. 4 on the PS1.
But the internet usually loses their collective sh!t over stuff like this. Especially with a cute female robot among the cast 😅
(Oh, "PicPac" is the sound of a robot's heart beat, nothing to do with Pac-Man)
