St Andrew’s saw late drama as Ipswich Town snatched a point from Birmingham City right at the death.

The Blues took the lead in the second half through Jay Stansfield, who pounced to put the hosts ahead and send the home fans into raptures. Birmingham defended well and looked on course for all three points, frustrating Kieran McKenna’s side for much of the game.

But deep into stoppage time, Ipswich were handed a lifeline. A 95th-minute penalty was awarded, and George Hirst stepped up to smash it home, breaking Birmingham hearts.
