Water and sewer rates are projected to rise by as much as 115% over the next decade in major U.S. cities, rising faster than general inflation. 💧
Cities are implementing aggressive multi-year utility rate increases as aging infrastructure, climate pressures, and funding gaps strain municipal systems. And unlike many other operating costs, water and sewer charges aren’t negotiable.
Our newest blog breaks down:
🔹 Why utility rates are surging
🔹 How rising rates can impact building asset value
🔹 Why onsite water reuse is becoming a financial hedge
🔹 A case study showing the impact of installing a reuse system

After nearly two decades in the making, our film @amongneighbors is coming to @AppleTV on May 12.
At a time when the office of the President in Poland is actively trying to ban our film, we want to make sure as many people as possible can see it.
This story is ultimately about how quickly neighbors can turn on neighbors when fear, hatred, and extremism take hold.
If this resonates with you, I hope you’ll consider watching and sharing the film

What does it take to make onsite water recycling the norm, not the exception?
That's the question the Epic team unpacked last week at our annual retreat in Sonoma. We spent time with our investors and board members mapping where the industry is headed, then stepped back to align on how Epic keeps pushing the water reuse movement forward.
The way buildings use water is changing, and the systems we design today will shape how cities respond to scarcity, growth, and resilience in the decades ahead.
In between strategy sessions, there were shared meals, inspiring views, and plenty of laughs.
The work ahead is ambitious. But so is this group.
Taking the meaning of a shower beer to a whole new level. 🚿♻️🍺
Shower Hour IPA and Laundry Club Kölsch are turning heads for what's inside the can AND on the outside. Our packaging tells the unique story: two craft beers made with highly purified recycled water sourced from the showers and washing machines of Epic Cleantec projects in California.
"People lean in with curiosity rather than hesitation. Once they understand the process, even skeptics become enthusiasts."

When we launched our recycled water beers, the goal was simple: prove that water reuse isn’t just safe…it’s something worth celebrating.
Now that idea is going even further.
Through our partnership with @Water.org, each purchase helps support efforts to expand access to safe water and sanitation around the world.
Because water solutions shouldn’t stop at the building scale. They should ripple outward.

💧Water costs are rising, and the trend is not slowing down.
New data from @BluefieldWater shows U.S. water and sewer bills increased 5.1% in 2025, outpacing inflation and reaching a five-year high.
As one analyst puts it: “Utilities are facing their own inflationary pressures… increasing the cost of maintaining and modernizing outdated infrastructure.”
This is where onsite water recycling can come in. Water reuse is not just a sustainability strategy; it’s a cost and resilience strategy.
At Epic Cleantec, we see water reuse as a way to turn a growing cost pressure into a long-term asset.
Buildings already produce water through HVAC condensate.
So why let it go down the drain?
Capturing rainwater + condensate can reduce potable water demand and strengthen operational resilience.

Took my 2-year-old to the liquor store over the weekend to show him one of dad’s little “work experiments”
What began as a crazy little idea of turning highly purified laundry and shower water into beer has now turned into two of the fastest-growing craft beer releases in the country — Shower Hour IPA and Laundry Club Kölsch.
Both are part of a first-of-their-kind collaboration between @EpicCleantec and @DevilsCanyon with the simple goal of helping people to rethink their relationship with water.

"Developer Kobayashi Group, LLC is set to deliver Hawai‘i’s first on-site residential greywater reuse system at Kuilei Place, working with Epic Cleantec — a California-based company specializing in on-site water reuse technology."
One of the things I admire most about our team at Epic is that we tend to run toward complexity, not away from it. In this case, that meant years of detailed permitting work, technical education, and close coordination across agencies to ensure the system meets Hawai‘i’s standards for safety, reliability, and public trust.
As Alana Kobayashi Pakkala shared in Building Industry Hawai‘i:
"𝘌𝘱𝘪𝘤 𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘤’𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩... 𝘌𝘱𝘪𝘤 𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘤 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴."
The approval process took multiple years and required coordination with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, the City’s Department of Environmental Services, and the Hawai‘i Department of Health. That legwork isn’t flashy, but it’s what it takes to responsibly open new markets.
Our hope is that this project can serve as a blueprint for future developments across Hawai‘i, helping make water reuse easier, faster, and more familiar for developers, regulators, and communities alike.
The result: a project projected to conserve over 11 million gallons of water annually, and a path forward for what’s possible when the work is done together.
🏈💧🍺 Recycled water just earned a spot at the #SuperBowlLX
This Super Bowl, tens of thousands of fans will be drinking our recycled water brews during the week’s biggest music events, hosted at San Francisco’s iconic Pier 80.
The festivities will showcase our Shower Hour IPA and Laundry Club Kölsch, brewed by @DevilsCanyon Brewing Company and served in partnership with @Non Plus Ultra. The shows will span across three days and feature some of the world’s most popular artists, including @CalvinHarris, @Diplo, @TPain, @DuttyPaul, and @Illenium.
We won’t make water reuse mainstream by explaining it. We make it mainstream by putting it into everyday experiences — until it just feels normal.
🛒 And good news, this isn't limited to one weekend! Our beers are now available at major California retailers, including BevMo! and Total Wine & More, and for online purchase in 13 states.
What’s unfolding in Iran may be the most consequential and underreported story in the world. Free elections there won’t just be a human rights victory. The fall of the Ayatollahs will release tens of millions of people, who come from one of the most creative civilizations in history. Iranian culture has shaped art, science and innovation for centuries. Suppressing it hurts not just Iranians, but humanity as a whole.
