Hey guys, it’s time I tell the truth about how hard life can be and how good it can be when it works out. So a couple about two years ago, I had hit rock bottom. Life sucked, I’d tried a lot of things and nothing worked. So I made my decision and I went to bed.
Hard not to root for Khristian Curtis.
Early in his career, Curtis underwent what turned into a botched right elbow surgery. Stitches were placed through a nerve, causing significant nerve damage. Every time he threw a baseball, the nerve was being damaged further.
When he returned to the mound, he lost all feeling from his elbow down to his fingers during his first start back. Nerve conduction tests showed no response whatsoever.
He eventually underwent a second surgery. While Curtis was in the operating room, doctors told his parents there was a possibility he might never throw a baseball again.
Curtis told us during his first pro season that the nerve damage was so severe he couldn't feel the baseball with certain fingers. At that time, he still had minimal feeling in his pinky and ring finger.
Considering everything he's overcome, it's impossible not to root for him every time he takes the mound.
‘I accept that you live with remorse everyday of your life, but I live with tragedy every day of mine. I accept apologies, I forgive you, however I cannot give your release my endorsement. To give that a blessing would be a betrayal of my sisters life.’
This is actually a great understanding of how the Christian should forgive. Just because you can personally come to terms with someone who wronged you doesn’t mean they’re exempt from consequences of the law.
