SACP DEMANDS FANNIE MASEMOLA’S IMMEDIATE RETURN

The SACP is calling for the immediate reinstatement of General Fannie Masemola as National Police Commissioner after the NPA withdrew four PFMA charges against him.

The NPA says its review found no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution on those charges.

MADLANGA COMMISSION | FEROZ KHAN WANTS CLOSED-DOOR TESTIMONY
Major-General Feroz Khan is seeking to testify in camera when he appears before the Madlanga Commission on Monday, 28 September 2026.

Khan’s application, dated 18 September, asks that proceedings, transcripts, recordings and related documents concerning evidence led against him on 7 and 9 July be protected from public disclosure.

His legal team would be allowed to attend, while Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga would determine who else could be present.

This follows an earlier in-camera request in July, which the Commission rejected after finding the application too vague.

Now Khan faces the Commission — but wants the questioning behind closed doors.

MATLALA TO REJOIN 13 CO-ACCUSED IN R228 MILLION MEDICARE CASE

Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his two companies are set to rejoin the 13 other accused in the main Medicare 24 Tshwane District corruption case.

The Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crime Court has postponed Matlala’s matter to 29 September 2026, when he is expected to return to the Pretoria Regional Court.

Matlala’s case was previously separated after he indicated that he intended to enter into a plea and sentence agreement with the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC). He later decided not to proceed with the agreement.

The case involves allegations surrounding the irregular awarding of an approximately R228 million contract to Medicare 24 Tshwane District, a company owned by Matlala.

Alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his 14 co-accused are set to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court in connection with the Medicare tender case.

The accused face allegations including corruption, fraud and money laundering.

Matlala’s company, Medicare24 Tshwane District, was allegedly awarded a SAPS contract worth approximately R228 million.

BREAKING NEWS | STF SHOOTS DEAD SUSPECT LINKED TO KZN CI OFFICERS’ KILLINGS

A suspect wanted in connection with the April 2026 killing of two KwaZulu-Natal Crime Intelligence officers has reportedly been shot and killed by Special Task Force members in Inanda.

A Special Task Force officer was also injured during the operation.

Captain Louis Nel and Sergeant Mandla Khuzwayo were ambushed on 30 April while travelling in an unmarked police vehicle near Mount Edgecombe/Cornubia.

Nel died at the scene, while Khuzwayo was critically wounded and later died in hospital.

SAPS has not yet released full details about the latest operation or the condition of the injured STF member.
