UM avustaa mahdollisuuksien mukaan suomalaisia, jotka haluavat pois Lähi-idän maista. Lentoyhtiöillä ja matkanjärjestäjillä on ensisijainen vastuu omista asiakkaistaan. UM neuvottelee tästä koko ajan Finnairin kanssa. 

Täydentävänä toimena ulkoministeriö järjestää Arabiemiraateissa oleville charter-lennon Muscatista, Omanista, Helsinkiin tulevana viikonloppuna. Halukkaat suomalaiset voivat ostaa paikan tältä omakustanteiselta lennolta. Lennon hinta on noin 2300 euroa per matkustaja. Hintaan vaikuttaa erityisesti vakuutushintojen nousu. Lisäksi voi tulla muita kustannuksia Omaniin pääsemiseksi. 

Asiasta on lähetetty alustava kartoitus Arabiemiraatteihin matkustusilmoituksen tehneille. Lisätietoja lipun hankinnasta ja siirtymisestä Muscatin kentälle tiedotetaan myöhemmin UM:n kanavilla.

Ulkoministeriö on lähettänyt Persianlahdelle konsulikomennuskunnan tukemaan suomalaisten neuvontaa ja avustamista paikan päällä, ensi vaiheessa Arabiemiraateissa.
Tavoitteena on vahvistaa läsnäoloa alueella ja varmistaa, että suomalaiset saavat tarvitsemansa ohjeistuksen ja tuen mahdollisimman nopeasti.

This morning, Russian cruelty struck again, killing men, women and children in the city of Sumy.

A barbaric attack, made even more vile as people gathered peacefully to celebrate Palm Sunday.

This latest escalation is a grim reminder:

Russia was and remains the aggressor, in blatant violation of international law.

Strong measures are urgently needed to enforce a ceasefire. Europe will continue to reach out to partners and maintain strong pressure on Russia until the bloodshed ends and a just and lasting peace is achieved, on Ukraine’s terms and conditions.

The victims of today’s attack, their families, and all Ukrainians are in our hearts. Today and every day.

The Finnish Government has today taken two key decisions, reflecting the changes in our security environment.

First, Finland will raise its defence expenditure to 3% of GDP by 2029. This is a part of Finland’s contribution to Europe taking greater responsibility for our own defence.

Second, Finland will prepare for the withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention. The decision is based on a thorough assessment by the relevant ministries and the Defence Forces. Finland is committed to its international obligations on the responsible use of mines.

Finland will always remain a responsible actor in the world, safeguarding its security and defence.

After the Cold War, Finland maintained a strong defence. Now, we are strengthening Finland’s defence even further.

With this decision, we are responding to the security situation in Europe and the military threat posed by Russia.

After 9/11, NATO's Article 5 was invoked for the first (and only) time ever by the United States.
