Arthritis is more than joint pain.
It's more than a diagnosis.
And it's certainly not just a part of getting older.
Today, October 12, is World Arthritis Day — a reminder that millions of people are living with conditions that can affect nearly every part of their lives, often in ways others cannot see.
According to the CDC, more than 53 million U.S. adults — roughly 1 in 5 — have been diagnosed with arthritis.
But behind that number are people whose lives don't stop when symptoms begin.
People working through fatigue. Navigating chronic pain and inflammation. Losing sleep. Canceling plans. Adjusting routines. Trying to explain symptoms that may change from one day to the next.
And sometimes, facing the exhausting task of convincing others that what they're experiencing is real.
Arthritis doesn't have one face, one age, or one story.
There are more than 100 types of arthritis and related rheumatic conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Each comes with its own challenges, and no two people's experiences are exactly alike.
That's why awareness must go beyond recognizing symptoms.
It means taking pain seriously. Supporting earlier diagnosis and access to appropriate care. Understanding that disability isn't always visible. Making room for accommodations, rest, and the reality that someone's abilities can change from day to day.
It also means listening to patients — not just talking about them.
At CreakyJoints, we believe people living with arthritis deserve reliable information, compassionate care, and a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their health.
And to everyone living with arthritis: You are more than your diagnosis. Your experiences matter. Your voice matters. And you deserve to be heard.
This World Arthritis Day, we want to hear from you:
💬 What's one thing you wish the world understood about living with arthritis?
Your answer might be exactly what someone else needs to hear today.

Chris Murphy: "Donald Trump was so fundamentally unprepared for this war that within days of the war starting, our billion dollar air bases and naval bases in the region were obliterated by the Iranians. Every single American should be furious about that."
ICE rip young children away from father—throw little boy down into the street.
Boy barely avoids getting run over by car.
"They're just kids!" witness yells.
"She's holding a baby!"
All in front of library playground.
Agents so rough with kids—literally knock their shoes off.

We’re about to sleepwalk into a gravely dangerous nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia, and not enough people are talking about this.
Here’s what’s happening (thread)
For context:
In just over 7 months of war with Iran, the U.S. has already lost or damaged 81 military aircraft—fighters, tankers, helicopters and drones.
It took multiple years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan to reach comparable aircraft losses.
Whatever else you think about this war, the rate at which we're losing American airpower is extraordinary.
Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."
@atrupar A sitting president is “joking” about letting a foreign government take out an American city. Every time you think he’s gone as low as you can, he goes lower. But at least he’s owning the libs right, patriots? 🤦🏾♂️
“Exploiting a tax credit loophole” is another way of saying “exploiting taxpayers.”
Taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to subsidize billionaires, and billionaires shouldn’t be allowed to buy the politicians creating loopholes in our tax laws for them.
They just had to do nothing and inflation woulda hit 2% last year itself as the lags worked their way through.
Instead they chose inflationary tariffs and war, and now interest rates are considerably higher

Benghazi cost four American lives at a single compound, and Congress gave it ten investigations and two years of televised fury. Beirut in 1983 produced a commission within weeks, and Pearl Harbor had its inquiry inside eleven days. That is how a serious country treats a military disaster.
This week the Pentagon's own inspector general confirmed that Iran has damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings at American bases in eight countries, along with dozens of aircraft. Neither Vietnam, Iraq nor Afghanistan ever saw the American footprint across a whole region hammered at once, and the public only learned of it because soldiers leaked photographs while Hegseth shrugged about the occasional "squirter."
General Caine warned before the first bomb fell that stockpiles and defences were not ready. Hegseth, a former television host, has since fired or blocked more than eighty generals and admirals, so the war is being run with the adults removed from the building.
When a Republican congressman filed eight articles of impeachment this week, the Speaker sent the House home early rather than allow a vote.

New in PN: Retire in peace
"McConnell would never be allowed to drive a car, babysit young children, or file his own taxes. Why, then, should a cognitively incapacitated 82-year-old retain one of the most important positions of power within the national government?" https://t.co/XWataucoHy
I pushed for independent oversight. Now, for the first time, we have an official glimpse at the damage—and it’s still an underestimate.
Resources drained. Munitions depleted. Diplomacy wrecked. Troops exhausted.
The American people deserve the full truth.
