Date: 11th August 2026
Subject: Rejected SHA Surgical Claims

Dear Specialist Surgeons,

Management wishes to bring to your attention an important matter concerning surgical claims submitted to the Social Health Authority (SHA).

We have identified a number of surgical claims that have been rejected by SHA, despite the Hospital having already processed and paid the respective surgical fees to the specialist surgeons.

Please note that payment made by the Hospital to a surgeon does not constitute confirmation that the corresponding claim has been accepted or will ultimately be reimbursed by SHA. Where SHA rejects a claim and the Hospital is consequently unable to recover the amount paid for the surgical service, the Hospital will be required to recover the unreimbursed
amount from the surgeon concerned.

Accordingly, effective immediately, any surgical claim that has been paid to a surgeon but is subsequently rejected by SHA, resulting in non-payment to the Hospital, will be surcharged to the respective surgeon. The surcharge will be equivalent to the amount that the Hospital is unable to recover from SHA in respect of that claim.

The Hospital will continue to review rejected claims and pursue appropriate avenues for reconsideration or resubmission where applicable.

However, where a claim remains rejected and SHA does not make payment, the Hospital reserves the right to recover the resulting financial loss from the surgeon.

We appreciate your cooperation and continued commitment to serving the clients.

At AfCoDD VI in Nairobi, I called for Africa to reclaim its economic sovereignty. The continent loses about US$90 billion annually through illicit financial flows while spending roughly US$89 billion servicing debt. Between 1970 and 2018, more than US$2 trillion left Africa through capital flight.

This is not a financing gap. It is a haemorrhage.

We must stop illicit financial flows, reclaim resource sovereignty, reform the global debt system and strengthen social protection.

The time for action is now. The bleeding must stop.

There's a case involving Ituru boys high school in Gatundu.

A single parent who is working in Saudi Arabia is being forced by the school administration to take her child to school in person.

Her son was sent back home because he wasn't accompanied by his parent.

The parent sent a guardian because she's in Saudi and she can't make it to Kenya.

The boy is still at home instead of school.

She has asked to speak to the Principal even on phone call and video call,

But the Principal insists that he wants to see her in person.

Principal Ituru Boys, are you really helping that child?
