Also Billups was arguably not the best player on that team but even if we say he is it doesn’t change the statistical fact that it is extremely rare for small guards to be the main guy on a championship roster. Becky was right and still is. Owes no one an apology
Fred… this is disingenuous and wrong. I think it’s awesome that the Knicks won and Brunson proved the haters wrong but he is 100% an outlier. Over the past 3 decades there has been 3 smaller guards that have been the main difference maker on a championship team.
The pleas for an apology are a little over the top, but over the last 20 years, the best player from the team that won the title has been a small guard more often than it's been a center. Maybe our opinions on the game should evolve as the game does.
The best basketball of a generation is currently being played with two stacked teams led by amazing young stars. But instead of enjoying this amazing series a bunch of so called ‘fans’ are bitching about the refs and people physical defense. NBA twitter is a cesspool.
Mainstream media consensus was that nba needed to bring back the midrange and physical basketball and then a team with an all time great midrange scorer and a physical defense comes along and it’s just nothing but hatred you can’t make it up
Defensive Player of the Year completely sealing off the paint, doubling him constantly, blitzing every chance they get and SGA still averaging 27 in the series lol
People choosing to focus on officiating instead of that incredible basketball game have OKC-induced madness.
Wemby is getting held like crazy. Shai is getting held like crazy. This is playoff basketball. It's physical, especially off-ball, and you play through it. That's it.
wow it’s almost as if basketball is in a great place and all the hand wringing about ratings was in poor faith by people who still haven’t gotten over the blm courts
I’m so sick of enjoying something then going online and someone is telling me I’m an idiot for enjoying that thing. The internet is full of criticism but is completely barren of appreciation and I for one am of sick of it.
The internet has completely killed my enjoyment of anything. Sports, Music, Movies, TV, etc; anything that I enjoy I go online and the toxic discourse surrounding everything completely engulfs the positivity.
Now imagine if the Thunder led the league in fts per game for three years straight, just lost by 18 in a playoff game, did this.
What would people be saying about this?
I want people to stop complaining about the way OKC plays and just match their intensity. People been asking for 90’s basketball… OKC doing it 82 games, 48 minutes, all 94 feet and now everybody crying about it. Don’t ask them to stop… match their energy!
Bro modern NBA fans would have crucified 2019 Harden. Does SGA foul-bait? Yes, of course but I’m SO TIRED of the idea that he is this basketball criminal. The Dude has the smoothest game in the league today but people thrive off negativity.
For the people that say “there’s no defense in the NBA”. I want you to watch these playoffs very closely because you’re going to be wrong…again. It’s the biggest myth we have about the league.
And somehow everyday in this app and on ESPN people are trying to convince you the NBA is collapsing and has all these existential problems. However most real fans are enjoying the League. It’s flush with amazing talent and interesting personalities.
The @NBA just completed its best three-year attendance stretch ever.
22.18M fans, 18,108 per game, 97% arena capacity, 11 teams with sellout seasons.
Third straight year hitting those marks.

Anyone who says Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is hard to watch, or is only good because of officiating and free throws, very clearly are only watching lowlight clips and seeing Twitter discourse.
If you watch the games, he’s unbelievably entertaining.
