WILL VAULKS TO FUND SUICIDE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN 👏🏽💛
Former Oxford United player Will Vaulks will continue to fund its suicide prevention campaign, despite leaving the club over the summer…
Vaulks signed for his boyhood club Tranmere Rovers in August, bringing an end to his two year spell at the Kassam 🥲
During his time in the city, the 32-year-old spearheaded the club's Can We Talk? campaign, focusing on mental health awareness in the workplace.
Ryan Maher, who co-founded the scheme - which began in 2024 - alongside Vaulks, said:
“None of this happens without Will. He's raised the profile of suicide prevention across Oxfordshire for two years, and even though he's moved on, his funding means we can keep training the community for the next 12 months." 🫡
An incredible initiative carries on ❤️
Tonight we’re taking a moment to remember two of our greatest ever players: Sol Bamba and Peter Whittingham.
August 31st marked two years since we lost Sol at the age of just 39. Sol had bravely battled cancer with the same courage and energy that he was known for during his playing days. A true giant of our Club and dearly missed.
Today also marks what would have been Peter Whittingham’s 42nd birthday. We tragically lost Whitts in March 2020 and his warmth and wit remain with us in our memories and conversations about him to this day.
Two legends of our Club. Friends, colleagues and heroes.
For Sol and for Whitts: tonight our programme is in your memory.

At half-time, we will be joined by three-year-old Teddy. Teddy's family asked us to share the following message:
"For the last year, our son Teddy has been battling neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer.
"Teddy is at high risk of his cancer returning, and for children who relapse, survival rates are heartbreakingly low. This treatment is what stands between our son and that risk. We're asking for your help to give him the very best chance of beating this for good.
"Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for anything you can give, and for sharing Teddy's story."

The first time I sat with Rich for a live commentary, I asked for some advice.
He said:
“When the ball is in play, I talk. When it’s out of play, you talk. Ready?”
And we went live. 🎙️
Rest easy, Shep. Thank you, it was a pleasure. 💙
“We’d never heard of this young kid, Pelè” 😮
