As part of its ongoing programme to address the growing menace of Domestic and Sexual Violence (DSV) on children, AXA Mansard Insurance Plc has once again, partnered with the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) to improve enlightenment,
reporting and protect children against DSV.
Over the past three years, AXA Mansard has invested in increasing awareness against this social menace because it believes that an organisation must reflect the kind of society where it wants to continue operating.
In 2025, 96% of AXA Mansard’s employees gave at least 30minutes of their working time to volunteer in raising awareness against DSV. The partnership with DSVA, is coming on the backdrop of the 2026 AXA Week for Good, themed “Being A Child Shouldn’t be A Risk”.
The Lagos DSVA will be providing technical and expert support in leading employee training, public awareness and guiding the various community engagements which will be carried out by employee volunteers of AXA Mansard.
According to Adebola Surakat, Chief Marketing Officer, AXA Mansard Insurance Plc,
The initiative builds on the success of 2025 collaboration between both AXA and the DSVA. She however added that while the previous phase focused on school-based interventions,
this year’s activation takes awareness directly into communities, ensuring that families, caregivers, and vulnerable groups have access to vital information, support channels, and preventive education.
She furthered “this year, our focus is on communities. Data shows that over 60% of domestic and sexual violence against children happen with people known to the children and at home. So this year, with our partner, the DSVA, we are going into six communities to engage adults,
parents and community leaders on identifying, reporting and safe parenting”.
Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Secretary, DSVA, Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said “Domestic and sexual violence thrives in silence, ignorance, and fear.
By taking this conversation directly into our communities and homes, we are empowering parents, caregivers, and community leaders with the knowledge and courage to protect children, recognise warning signs, and speak up against abuse.
We commend AXA Mansard for sustaining this important partnership and demonstrating that safeguarding children is a shared responsibility that requires collective action from government, the private sector, and every member of society.”
