Replacing a QB is significantly different. So you’re either replacing him with an unproven rookie or at the numbers in the Baker scenario

It’s still accumulative. So, if you signed Baker at 35M for 3 years, you’d really be allocating 52M, 48M, 42M to the position.

Then post 6/1 they’d trade JH and get that number to 52M. That’s an absurd number for Baker. Hurts would be cheaper for the same production

Free agency, draft, your roster is all built pre 6/1 for 2027. You’d carry the new QBs cap and Jalen’s current cap (45M) until 6/1 of 2027

Any proven QB is getting 40M a year and the Eagles aren’t allocating 60M+ (40 to new QB and 20 in dead cap) when they can just keep Hurts for 40M. He’s here till 28 on this deal
