This is such an obvious security hazard in a world of drones.
Also, if HPC is ever finished, the onsite waste storage is 100yrs before transport, processing and thousands of years more secure storage.
The supposed quicker and better nuclear stuff simply doesn't exist.
You really don’t have to bury nuclear waste in bedrock. Just stick it in a concrete cask.
Once the fuel rods are spent, they’re put in a big pool of water for around five years, a remarkably good insulator of radiation and a great way to cool them down. These pools are so safe you could in theory swim about in them in at the top.
After a few years in a pool the rods are moved to dry cask storage, where they sit happily basically forever. These casks are so protective that they are safe enough for humans to hug.
And the casks don’t have to be heavy duty forever. Intense gamma radiation depletes relatively quickly. The actual long-term hazard increasingly comes from radionuclides that are only really dangerous if literally eaten.

There's definitely some truth to this observation. One the socialist left is starting to win big electorally is that it better represents what many rank and file Democratic voters expect and want from the Democratic Party.
Toynbee has been writing the same article over and over again since the 19 f*cking 70s.
Essentially it boils down to:
“Vote for this Establishment Endorsed Sensible Centrist and this time things will definitely get better…”
The same article, thousands of times, for 50 years!
DNS is looking for examples from the last few months of broadcasters, particularly BBC News and Sky News, that have failed to challenge claims that spending on 'welfare' is spiralling out of control and needs to be cut. Examples with links to video would be most useful. Thank you
The workforce in the whole university sector is being cut, but there is no national response from our union. We can’t fight this with piecemeal, college by college actions. We will be picked off and lose.
@ucu
honestly anyone suggesting rising temperatures is a small price to pay for AI data centres should be forced to do manual labour 50 hours a week at wet bulb temperatures for a month.
The North will never be free until we destroy Northernism. Kill the professional northerner in your head! Strangle the last Hacienda nostalgist with the guts of the last performative gravy enjoyer! Burn the Northern Quarter! Tear down the Fred Dibnah statue! Cast off your chains!

Seems important to remember she disowned him, not the other way around. She gave up perhaps the largest inheritance in human history because that's how important it is to be yourself
I went on @10kpostspod last week to talk about how this crisis is not really an AI crisis but an outcome of a deeper structural problem across academia https://t.co/FiBfjvfVkZ
