Today we started @LadyOfSardines amazing COINTELPRO lesson from the @ZinnEdProject website! My 8th graders are reading the Assata Shakur autobiography and we’re using this activity to analyze the FBI’s actions against civil rights activists

I get angry every time I remember that student teaching is not only free labor, but the teacher also pays their college for the privilege. In many cases going into debt. Got to be a better way.

This is one of the toughest parts of this year - we have 0 subs, and as much as I need a personal day, it’ll fall on a colleague to lose their planning time and cover for me. We’ve been guilted into “being team players” instead of taking earned time off we need

I know there are sub shortages but teachers need the freedom to take the personal days they've earned. It's not their job to own a systemic failure. If they have to do extra coverage for others, it's not selfish to say, "I need a day to step away and recover for a moment."
