I usually run my generator from 6 to 8am every morning to prepare for work.

A few minutes after I put it on this morning, my neighbor came to ask me to help charge her phone. It was just at 2%, and I was like a relief to her at that moment.

A few minutes to 8, I checked and noticed it hadn't been charging, but I needed to turn off the generator to go out.

I know how she'd react if I handed her back a phone at 5% after 2 hours. So I gave her my power bank instead, fully charged, and left for work.

You won't believe I came back from work to find her outside with her friend, still using my power bank. I gave it to her at 100%. She returned it at 8%.

LET ME BRAG A LITTLE ABOUT MY HOMETOWN-AJAAWA

*AJAWA* is a historic Yoruba town in Oyo State, Nigeria. The king is called *Alajawa of Ajawa* = “Owner/Lord of Ajawa land”.

*1. Origin of Ajawa Town*
1. *Founder*: Ajawa was founded by *Prince Ajawa*, a grandson of Oduduwa. He was a hunter and warrior who left Ile-Ife to settle new land. That’s why Ajawa people claim Oduduwa lineage like Orile Igbon.
2. *Name “Ajawa”*: Came from the founder’s name. Before settlement, the area was thick forest. Prince Ajawa cleared it and established the town.
3. *Location*: Ajawa is about 25km from Ogbomoso, along the Ogbomoso-Oyo road. It’s in OGOOLUWA LGA of Oyo State. Because of nearness to Ogbomoso, Ajawa and Ogbomoso have strong cultural + trade ties.

*2. The Alajawa Stool*
The Alajawa is a 2nd class Oba, crown-wearing but under the Soun of Ogbomosoland politically. In Yoruba hierarchy: Alaafin/Soun → Alajawa controls only Ajawa + surrounding villages.

*Key facts about the stool:*
1. *Ruling Houses*: The Alajawa stool rotates between ruling houses in Ajawa. The exact number of ruling houses has changed over time due to history, but kingmakers select from eligible princes when vacant.
2. *Staff of Office*: After kingmakers select a prince, the Soun of Ogbomoso and Oyo State Government must approve before he gets staff of office.
3. *Role*: Traditional ruler of Ajawa. He settles disputes, presides over festivals, protects customs, and represents Ajawa in Ogbomoso Traditional Council meetings.

*3. Culture & Identity of Ajawa People*
1. *Occupation*: Farming is #1 - yam, cassava, maize, cashew. Ajawa is in the food basket of Oyo State. Trading too because of the road to Ogbomoso.
2. *Festivals*: Main one is *Alajawa Day / Ajawa Day* yearly. Indigenes at home + abroad return. Egungun and Sango festivals are also big.
3. *Dialect*: They speak Yoruba with Ogbomoso/Oyo accent. Very respectful culture - greetings and proverbs are important.

*4. Current Alajawa `As of 2026`*
The current Alajawa is *Oba Cornelius Oladipupo Ajagungbade III*. He ascended the throne some years back after due process by kingmakers + approval.

Like other modern Obas, his focus is on:
1. *Peace & Unity* among Ajawa indigenes
2. *Education* - supporting schools in Ajawa
3. *Development* - attracting boreholes, electricity, road projects

Note: Oba names/tenure can change. For 100% current status, Ajawa Palace or OGOOLUWA LGA Secretariat is the final source.

*5. Alajawa vs Soun Relationship*
Ajawa is politically under Ogbomosoland. So:

As I was driving home this evening, I was tuned into Naija Info FM.

They were discussing one's source of joy in marriage.

Then listeners were calling in.

Then I remembered one time, I was asking my lovely wife how she felt about me handling this page and coming here every day.

This was way before I monetized my page.

"Sweetie, I used to have a silent problem with it because I know how wicked people can be on social media. But after some time, I observed that you were getting some form of fulfillment from it.

Especially when you tell me about how you were able to do this and that for people you do not even know.

I concluded that you were happy doing it, and you still did not neglect our needs, and you are mostly at home as well.

I also stopped complaining about your going out almost every evening to relax and have some beer.

Even though I know that sometimes you go there to flirt with women, I just overlook it because you have been very careful not to bring shame or disrespect to us as your family.

You have grown and learnt a lot from your mistakes.

And you do not have most of your closest friends in the country anymore."

Those were the exact words of my lovely wife.

I sat down and thought about what she said for a while, and realized how truthful she was, and how open-minded she was towards expressing herself.

She was right.

I recall one time, I taught about the source of joy.

And I did say that men should not make their wives or children their only source of joy.

Because for women, they can hurt you deeply, and if she's your only source of joy, you may not have the courage to walk away when you should have.

For the children, they will not always be with you. A time will come when they leave the house to be on their own. They will visit at intervals, but it will no longer be an everyday affair.

I have also taken time to understand my wife's sources of joy aside from being a good wife, a good mother, and a homemaker.

She derives joy from watching movies in her free time and listening to educational and health content.

For that reason, I always make sure that there is no shortage of data in the home.

Every married person needs to have a source of joy or fulfillment.

You must find something that brings you special happiness when being married sometimes weighs you down.

When you feel that you have given your all and you just want to run away, don't give up.

When you feel that your efforts or sacrifices are not being reciprocated or appreciated, please understand that sometimes marriage can be overwhelming.

You need to find something else to do to add extra value to your life, and by extension, to society at large.

We have two female NYSC corps members serving in our Office.

One is very friendly. She greets everyone, gets along with the staff, and people genuinely enjoy working with her.

The other can be quite rude. Staff members complain about her attitude regularly.

They’ll be passing out soon, and our boss asked HR to evaluate them because he wants to retain only one person.

The rude one is exceptionally smart. She joined the marketing department and has already closed a deal, while the friendly one is still learning and trying to figure out the job.

If they retain the rude one, she’ll likely produce great results, but her attitude is a major concern.

HR asked everyone for their opinion. Out of 10 staff members, 8 said they shouldn’t retain her. One person even volunteered to train the friendly one. 😂
