I grew up in West Africa, along the beautiful Gambian coastline, a place that has always felt like home.
Over the past few years, The Gambia has quietly grown into a sought-after destination, especially along its coastal stretch. That’s what led me to invest in property there.
Along the way, I’ve started working with a local team to help connect diaspora and international buyers with thoughtfully selected beachfront and near-beach opportunities.

Someone wrote to Huzoor-e-Anwar (aa):
Do children who pass away at a young age remain children in Heaven?
And is the door to Heaven opened for parents who lose their child?
Will all children in Heaven be under the care of Prophet Abraham (as)?
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih (aa) provided the following answer:
“Various matters have been mentioned in ahadith regarding children who pass away at a young age, which are, in fact, a source of patience and comfort for parents over this bereavement. Accordingly, Abu Hassan narrates: ‘I said to Hazrat Abu Hurairah (ra), ‘Two of my sons have died. Would you narrate to me any hadith of Allah’s Messengersa by which you may comfort our hearts regarding our deceased?’
“Hazrat Abu Hurairah (ra) replied, ‘Yes, the young children of Muslims are the little fishes [da‘amees] of Paradise. When one of them meets his father or parents, he will take hold of his garment or his hand, just as I have taken hold of the hem of your garment. Then, he will not let go of it until Allah the Almighty admits him and his father or parents into Paradise.’
“The reason these children are referred to as da‘amees, meaning little fishes, is that just as a du‘moos (the singular of da‘amees) refers to one who can slip into any place, these children will roam about freely in Paradise without restriction and they will not be forbidden from going anywhere.
“Just as in this world, no one stops children from going to women who are not mahram, nor does anyone observe purdah from them.
“Regarding children being under the care of Prophet Abraham (as), it is narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (ra) that the Holy Prophet (sa) said that the children of Muslims who pass away before reaching puberty will be in Paradise and Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, will take care of them.
“Similarly, there is a lengthy narration from Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (ra) in which the Holy Prophet (sa) related a dream of his, wherein the angels Gabriel and Michael took him on a tour of Hell and Heaven. In it, the Holy Prophet (sa) says, ‘We reached near a lush green garden which had large trees and at its base were an old man and some children. I was told regarding them that this old man is Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him and the children around him are the children of the people.’”
They say that time does not stop, but life continues. This is a truth that only becomes fully apparent after the demise of a loved one. My father, the late Munawar Ahmad Khurshid Sahib, was a missionary, a devotee of Khilafat, a teacher, a visionary and a mentor. For his children, he was simply “Abbuji”. Friends and family members have often asked me to write about him. I always hesitated, not knowing where to begin, but I pray that this piece will serve as a means of keeping Munawar Ahmad Khurshid Sahib in your prayers.
Those who remember Khurshid Sahib will recall a man who met others without a trace of worry on his face, with a radiant smile that touched the hearts of so many. Yet behind this smile was someone who was very unwell: He had been on dialysis for over 10 years and had to visit a dialysis centre three times a week. He would wake in the early hours of the morning and a taxi would take him to the centre, where the entire process would take around five hours. He had undergone open-heart surgery and continued to struggle with serious health issues. Not long before his demise, he also had a finger amputated due to gangrene.
But Abbuji was never fazed by any of this. If ever asked how he was, he would often jokingly reply, “I am fine, but more importantly, I am concerned about your health.” He remained very cheerful and his infectious smile, kindness and love for others were constant features of his life.
The more I reflect on Abbuji’s love and care for the Jamaat of the Promised Messiah (as), the more I realise how deeply he understood the personal struggles of others. As a senior missionary, he felt that it was his primary duty to provide help and comfort to those around him. For this reason, he would put his own worries aside and make the other person the focus of his attention.
The love and concern he showed to others were returned to him in equal measure. One incident from those years has remained with me ever since.
I was still in Jamia when Abbuji suffered a heart attack. When I went to visit him in hospital, he was fast asleep, clearly still under the effects of his medication. Standing next to his bed was a member of his local Jamaat, quietly praying for him, with tears streaming down his face. After a while, he gently kissed Abbuji’s forehead.
I graduated in 2013 and have served as a field missionary since then, but this incident remains etched in my mind. It was at that moment that I truly understood that Ahmadiyyat is indeed one family...
There could be no better way to conclude than with the prayer offered by beloved Huzoor (aa):
“May Allah the Almighty continue to grant the Jamaat such loyal and devoted missionaries who render services selflessly and fulfil their tasks. May Allah elevate his rank [in paradise].”

Someone wrote to Hazrat Amirul Momineen, Khalifatul Masih V (aa):
Is my relationship with God not good, that the doors of the world have been closed upon me, even though I am highly diligent in offering obligatory and voluntary prayers?
Huzoor-e-Anwar (aa) provided the following guidance:
“The answer to your first question is that Allah the Almighty is the Sovereign; if He wills, He may hear the prayer of a servant and if He wills, He may not and whenever He wills, He may accept all prayers at once. The duty of the servant is simply to continue asking.
“The Promised Messiah (as) states:
“‘Those people who are impatient fall into the clutches of Satan. A righteous person must battle with impatience as well. In Bustan, there is a mention of a worshipper. Whenever this individual stood for worship, he would hear an angel’s voice from the unseen saying: ‘You have been rejected and forsaken.’ On a certain occasion, one of his disciples heard this voice from the unseen and said: ‘Now the verdict has been passed. What then is the use of futile action?’ The man wept profusely and said, ‘If I am to leave God, where else should I go? If accursed I am, then so be it. At least I am fortunate enough to be called accursed.’ These discussions were still underway with his disciple when a voice was heard saying, ‘You have been accepted.’ So all this was the result of sincerity and patience, which is a condition for one who is righteous.’
“Similarly, at another place, he stated:
“‘Prayers possess an efficacy and they undoubtedly manifest themselves. In one instance, Hazrat Abul Hasan Kharqani (ra) states, ‘For 30 years I offered certain prayers which had no effect whatsoever and the thought crossed my mind that they had not been accepted. Finally, after 30 years, all those objectives were achieved and it became evident that all the prayers had been accepted.’ When a prayer is accepted after a delay, one’s life is prolonged.’”
