Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues. If the moderator of this page ever expresses a view, it is their own and not that of AA or anybody else.
Sometimes people will ask me if it seems overwhelming that I can't have a drink the rest of my life. I tell them not at all because I can have a drink anytime I want ( I'm old enough, I have enough money).. I choose not to drink today and I plan to make the same choice tomorrow
My 19th September being sober , if you haven’t been through what I went through, living a life like being in hell then this won’t have any meaning , just think could you do 1 September? If not just think about it xx
I congratulate people that are new to recovery and want to emphasize that being sober today is all any of us really have. Your one day sober means as much as my one day sober.
It's great to recognize milestones but don't ever downplay yours. Today is the day that truly matters
Drove past a garage selling alcohol 24-7 & thought "that's good to know" .. had a little surge of adrenalin thinking about it. That's after nearly 3 years sober which is why I know my alcoholic brain is with me all the time. Luckily my sober brain had a little chuckle 😍
I was 30 yrs #sober then I relapsed. I thought maybe I recovered from #alcoholism but I picked up right where I left off 30yrs ago & worse.Coming back was humbling & the road back was rocky. I had to learn #gratefulness for all that I had & all that remains. Today I can smile🙏🏼
Offered to take a client to an AA meeting this week. I said to my boss "I won't share" so no boundaries are crossed, she said "then there's nothing in it for you" but as we know there is everything in just being a small part of getting someone to their 1st meeting. 🙏
I love when people that have been through hell walk out of the flames carrying buckets of water for those still consumed by the fire!! #shareyourstory#soberlife
Newly sober is often scary because you have to learn to do everything from make love to fall asleep—sober—for the first time. Be gentle with yourself. In time, you will become comfortable in your own skin.
A week ago I was under a blanket on my sofa drinking my last beer to stop the shakes, and crying because I failed again and I was scared to try one more time.
Today, I am One Week Sober ❤

@EReason1@Memyselfplus2@ClarenceSandpa1 You'll never "crack it" there's always another emotional adventure around the corner ... thing is I think the emotions get less intense and "personal" if that makes sense. x
@EReason1@pamela_pesta It's natural to feel overwhelmed ... just think how many times we used alcohol to cope with these feelings. The beauty is you haven't and that's a miracle in itself. Life is beautiful and so are you my fav alkie xxxx
Love it! Not drinking on a BH weekend seemed impossible to me - now I don't even think about it! I have too many good things to enjoy sober these days.
