"If we hope to achieve health equity, we need to switch from a paradigm of doing research on -- or 'to' – communities, to doing research as community, where those we hope to help invite us in." https://t.co/cSXJw0Wt7H
Can't wait to discuss issues of bias and barriers to genetic testing for underrepresented populations at the Rare Health Equity Summit, hosted by @GlobalGenes and @rarediseasediv1
@Naomi_CGC@DollyChugh Oh. My. Goodness!!!! @DollyChugh just liked this tweet and I’m ASOLUELY fangirling!! 🥹 I just told all of my Southern California colleagues to read your book!!! Thank you for your tremendous contributions to the important work of diversity equity and inclusion!! My day is made!!
Not @Naomi_CGC giving an ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL presentation on gene-based therapies to kick off #scgc22- like flawless, nearly impossible to follow- and then supporting and promoting the work of the other presenters all day long with her detailed tweets! #gcgoat
It's MATCH DAY! Congrats to all #ProspectiveGCs who matched! For those who didn't, the GC Immersive Program at @Color is perfect to boost your CV for next time (I know the feeling!). Visit the site and may the odds be in your favor!🤞🏿#GeneMatch2022#GCchat https://t.co/KggYTpK6bQ

Wishing the #GeneMatch2022 applicants the absolute best!! #ProspectiveGCs: our field will be so much better because of you!! And for those who don’t get the news they were hoping for today, your worth and value are not tied to today’s outcome!! 💕
To celebrate Black History Month we want to recognize a brilliant early voice in our field. This quote was taken from a 1985 article authored by Dr. Lorna Wilkerson, one of the first Black genetic counselors. At that time, Black GCs barely made up more than 0.1% of the workforce.
Happy For the Culture Friday! Let's finish this week by reading more about the disparities we still face in our genetics community and celebrate the research of a few amazing contributors working for change. @altovisee#blackingenetics@minoritygenetic#GeneChat#blackinmedicine
