Manchester City were 'very, very, very interested' in Aleksandar Pavlović. Their interest dates back to last spring. City's director of football Hugo Viana made several calls and was determined to sign the German international. Pavlović was a higher priority than Enzo Fernández for City. The Premier League club signalled they would be willing to pay up to €100m. Bayern were informed of that. However in the end, Pavlović rejected the move, saying: 'I'm Bavarian, I'm from Munich and I want to stay at FC Bayern' [@Plettigoal]
Following record demand for tickets last season, interest in the 2026/27 Bundesliga season has increased significantly once again. Never before have so many requests been received for tickets to all of FC Bayern’s home and away matches. Every game is already overbooked, although ticket requests can still be submitted for selected fixtures. Even in away games, demand for away tickets is so high that, in theory, FC Bayern could fill the entire stadium of every host club with its own fans
Jan-Christian Dreesen: "The enormous interest in our matches is overwhelming and by no means something we can take for granted. We would like to sincerely thank all of our fans for this. It once again demonstrates the tremendous appeal of FC Bayern. The fact that we receive significantly more ticket requests than there are seats available for every match, both home and away, is an impressive testament to the bond between our fans and the club. We know that we cannot fulfill every request, but we are doing everything we can to continue providing our members and fan clubs with special experiences at the stadium"
Let me tell you something you don't know. Under Uli Hoeness, Bayern has not sold a player for more than
€45 million.
Yeah I said it.
Uli Hoeneß once told Eintracht Frankfurt's board directly: "In the long run, you lose substance with every sale. It's nice to get 50 or 60 million once in a while, but what are the consequences?" He was not speaking theoretically.
Under his leadership, Bayern never received more than €45 million for a single player. That was a deliberate choice, not a financial constraint. And it produced one of the most consistently successful clubs in European football history.
The philosophy connects directly to something else he has said publicly, this time about ticket pricing. Bayern could charge €350 per season ticket instead of €120. The difference in revenue would be approximately €2 million per year.
His response to that idea was straightforward. "We do not believe that fans are like cows, which are milked. Football has to be for everyone." And then he added the line that should make English football uncomfortable: "That is the biggest difference between us and England."
These two positions are not separate. They are the same philosophy operating at different levels of the club. Do not extract maximum short-term value from every asset, whether that asset is a player contract or a supporter's loyalty, because the long-term cost of doing so is the substance of the club itself.
The atmosphere in the stadium, the emotional investment of the fanbase, the identity of the squad, these are not soft considerations. They are the commercial foundation that everything else is built on.
This is also where governance makes the difference. Germany's 50+1 rule means Bayern's majority ownership must remain with the members, the fans themselves. That structural protection is what allows a club president to turn down an extra €2 million in ticket revenue and call it the right decision. Without ownership rules that keep fans at the centre, the pressure to monetise everything eventually wins.

🚨✨ Jorge Mendes from Barcelona: “ “The Ballon d’Or is for a genius and Lamine Yamal is the only one who can win it this year. He’s a genius, no one can be compared after this season”.
“It’s more than fair to consider him the one to win the Ballon d’Or 2026 after winning World Cup, La Liga and having a great season with Barcelona, one more time. He deserves it”.
