First time at County Sligo GC today…
1. Word that comes to mind is “memorable”. Easy to remember every hole, loads of variety, land movement and challenge.
2. Site of the West of Ireland (basically an Irish amateur major). Winners include Rory, Shane and Padraig.
3. Nearly entirely surrounded by water and hills. Incredible views from just about every hole.
4. Feels like a mix of Conwy, Western Gailes and Cruden Bay at times. And that is high praise.
5. Doubt it’s a popular choice but I loved the 13th hole. Well framed, elevated tee shot followed by (another) cool green and green site that creates an awkward angle.
6. Forget the golf, it’s probably one of the best walks you could take in this part of Ireland.
($375 a round before you ask)
What is always the most challenging time of year on west coast of Ireland with minimal growth due to low temperatures and east winds, all the while expectations remain high from members and visiting players for perfect conditions! But course is getting there, sunshine today helps🇮🇪
Two days after double dimple seed and sand @CountySligoGC . Some heavy showers have since sped up the process leaving surfaces looking and rolling great ⛳️
Coming in on a Sunday afternoon was worth it today getting through ahead of golf !! Dimple seed x2 directions followed by a Topdress and drag mat @CountySligoGC Great push by the team to get finished ⛳️
Thanks to Barry and @AbernethyAaron coming in this evening to start seeding the greens and get ahead for the morning. Double pass with dimple seeder and topdress after @CountySligoGC
