@sociodoug SM8 #daccsoc - i grew up in the 90's for the most part, my parents only had to use corporal punishment a few times and I knew clearly right from wrong. There's little in life that isn't scaring and I feel children grew up more well rounded in previous generations.

People need to know the Gender to prepare for when the baby arrives. There may be an argument on gender identity but parents in general go with historical habit, Blue = Boy, Pink= Girl, Race Cars for boys, Princesses for Girls, etc. Its A social norm.
