CHESHIRE WEST AND CHESTER COUNCIL ARE TRYING TO MAKE A MAN A CRIMINAL FOR FLYING HIS NATIONAL FLAG.
Read that again.
A British citizen. Proud of his country. Attached the flag of St George and the Union Jack to lampposts on Westminster Bridge in Ellesmere Port.
Not a weapon. Not a threat. Not an act of violence.
His flag.
Getty Images, the world's largest photography agency, photographed those flags and distributed the images globally. They became some of the most shared images of British pride this country has ever seen. The community was overwhelmed by it. People came from across the area to see them. People photographed them. People shared them across the world.
The council removed them.
The community put them back up. Operation Raise The Colour. Because that is what proud British people do.
And now Cheshire West and Chester Council has issued this man with a formal notice under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 requesting he attend a criminal interview under caution.
A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION.
FOR FLYING THE FLAG OF HIS COUNTRY.
This man has reached out. He is understandably shaken. He did something that millions of British people do every single day and a council with apparently nothing better to do has decided to pursue him through the criminal justice system for it.
There is no recorded successful prosecution in the entire history of English and Welsh law for attaching flags to lampposts. Not one. Every council in the country handles this by removing the item and closing the matter.
But not Cheshire West and Chester.
Now ask yourself this one question.
Has this council ever issued a criminal investigation notice to anyone for attaching a Palestinian flag to a lamppost? A Pride flag? A Ukrainian flag? Any other flag?
If the answer is no, this is not law enforcement.
This is persecution. This is two tier justice. This is a council that is ashamed of the flag of its own country using the machinery of the state to punish a man for loving his.
As a proud member of Restore Britain I am standing behind this man completely. I have given him full legal advice. I have told him not to attend any interview without a solicitor present. And I am taking this council to public account.
Today I have submitted four formal Freedom of Information requests to Cheshire West and Chester Council. They are live and publicly visible right now. Every response they give will be published in full for the country to read.
1. Enforcement history under Section 132 Highways Act 1980: https://t.co/qcLOwDF6PZ
2. Complaints and enforcement on flags attached to lampposts: https://t.co/bwZtJDgmSE
3. Investigations under Section 43 Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003: https://t.co/7pYWVBDPtg
4. Council policy and guidance on flags on highway structures: https://t.co/RNVVDinLdT
They have 20 working days to answer. Whatever they say, the truth goes on the permanent public record.
This man flew his flag because he loves his country.
The world agreed with him.
His council did not.
We will not let that stand.

@SheelaghG@chrislittlewoo8 Expressing your opinion on the removal direct to the council is a great start. And I am still seeking legal advice so any sharing is highly appreciated!
@RealQueenBee__@Nigel_Farage What? Like giving away a strategic outpost to another country, then lying about the reasons to your strongest political ally?
