“A Sijo for X-Poets”
Poets, unfortunately,
see fall chinooks
clapping scrubby leaves.
Boots are stomping,
the boots clomping—
we perceive untended breeze.
We ignore Blake’s poison tree
rotting white oaks,
watching autumn breathe.

“Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows”
we zoom our weekend
text daily activities
hug digitally—
I step into autumn’s night,
sip on my apartment stoop.
#TankaThursday (autumn) #tanka#poetry
she knows hundreds
of knock knock jokes
so amongst
scattered throws
next to the bed
sweat shining
on her pregnant
tiger-stripped belly
she tells me half
rocking her hips
running her fingers
through her black hair
laughing in gallops
of rain soaked air
