@CountessesofUNC Mom took me to an exhibition game that featured the '77-78 men's basketball team. I was 4. I still remember Mike O'Koren and Rich "Chickee" Yonaker were very kind to me. Signed a ball. Fell in love w Heels hoops that night. Al Wood became my favorite Tar Heel that next season.
Thirty years ago this week, a different sort of March Madness in Chapel Hill. Thousands of Deadheads descended for two sold-out shows in the Dean Dome. "Peace, pot and microdot, that's our motto," said one fan. Tents and sleeping bags all over town amid the aroma of the weed. 🪴
