This February, we acknowledge the influential Black players who left a lasting mark on our organization and the Upstate baseball community.
As we celebrate those who shaped our community, this week we look to former Black Spinner, Frank White.
White began with the Greenville Black Spinners as a bat boy before working his way onto the roster as a first baseman, where he truly became a lasting symbol of the team’s excellence and perseverance. His growth within the organization reflected the Spinners’ role in developing Black talent during the period of segregation, and his success beyond Greenville helped elevate the team’s reputation as a true pipeline to the Negro Leagues. White’s journey embodies the pride, opportunity, and legacy of the Black Spinners. Today we take time to honor Frank White’s legacy and the lasting impact he has made on the Greenville Community.
