Troy Aikman says he forgot Halloween candy and handed out autographed cards instead, then remembered the candy the next year and somehow disappointed the kids

Aikman: “One year for Halloween, I got home from practice. I was single, was at the house, totally forgot it was Halloween. And all of a sudden, I had kids coming to my door. I had no candy.”

“And I was like, ‘Oh man,’ I felt like an absolute loser. So these card companies would send me my football cards, and it’s all I could think of. So I pull out these cards and I just signed them for the kids as they came to the door, sign a card and hand it to them.”

Dale: “They’re kids and that’s normally who wants those.”

Aikman: “Yeah. And so then the next year I got smart and I was prepared and I had candy. And then I had more kids that came to my door than I had the year before, and I’m handing them out candy, and they’re like, ‘Oh man, we want the autographed football card.”
