I mourn the loss of Charlotte's father, Tim.
He came to us in the West with a brilliant strategic mind and wonderful gift for humour. Tim's company was, simply, fun and irreverant, with a terrific policy and political mind.
Like so many others, I will miss him.
Vale.
Carly and my thoughts are with former Labor State Secretary and our mate Tim Picton, who is in a serious condition in hospital.
The whole Labor team are thinking of him and his family during this difficult time. RC
@SaulEslake has undone himself here. Every Australian knows that Victoria’s poor fiscal position is due to its own mismanagement. Bailing them out via the GST system rewards ineptitude; exactly why the system was reformed in 2018.

Below is a live update from our Energy Operator. Natural gas is generating more than half our electricity. Not only is this fuel central to our decarbonisation and diversification efforts, it is providing critical and affordable comfort to society's most vulnerable.
Even without a climate trigger, the Nature Positive Bill would do great damage to the WA economy. It will frustrate efforts to build houses, develop mines, and transition to renewable energy. The Bill must not pass - full stop.

Western Australia must develop its onshore gas resources if it is to have any hope of diversifying its economy for future generations. https://t.co/efFmTvfT8K
After reviewing today's national accounts release, there is no doubting that Western Australia is the strongest economy in the nation. Despite this record activity however, small business profits are almost non-existent and require urgent policy support.
New report from @SaulEslake finds Tasmania’s budget woes are “entirely the result of conscious decisions to increase spending and cut taxes”. Rather than looking for quick fixes like a GST grab, Tassie would be better off sorting their own mess. https://t.co/Ktv4u5dLJO
CCIWA has consistently highlighted the potential risks to WA's economy of the Federal Government's 'Nature Positive' reforms. @AaronMorey told @latingle on @abc730, concerns remain despite positive signs the Government is listening to industry. More: https://t.co/SIIUmmUdcO
Great to join forces with other industry groups today, calling for the burden of payroll tax to be lowered on WA small & family businesses. Its unfair WA businesses pay the highest payroll tax in the country. There is an easy fix, and we call on the state govt to provide relief.
Blocking an extension to the North West Shelf project would undermine the community of Karratha, damage small and family businesses, and compromise Asia's ability to generate the energy needed for its growing populations. Common sense must be applied.

It’s not a windfall at all - WA is just subsidising other states by a smaller amount. Time for other states to crack on and develop their economies like WA has.

The Victorian Government is outraged it subsidises South Australia via the GST system. It appears they have unwittingly aligned themselves with Western Australia on GST distribution policy.

Great to share a conversation with Deputy Premier @Rita_Saffioti at today's CCIWA Business Breakfast. The government's policy agenda is pointing in the right direction. CCIWA looks forward to continuing to work constructively with the government on the issues that matter.
