@GregMolnar Setting locale based on IP location is an extremely common mistake companies make 😩 Companies/devs are often unaware that our devices emit locale preference as header Accept-Language.

Could also be regulatory? Google knows better.

@simonhamp Used config('nativephp-internal.running') to patch the runtime nativephp connection after NativePHP creates it, then purge/reconnect that connection so the queue workers actually pick up IMMEDIATE.

@nativephp any solutions on Desktop if I need async calls? I need to make a bunch of API calls to different vendors then aggregate responses together, but single-threaded is killing me 😫 Am I dumb?

@simonhamp Figured this out! I'm using the app while running locally, which means NativePHP forces the app onto its generated nativephp SQLite connection instead of the normal Laravel sqlite connection. So setting transaction as IMMEDIATE on database.connections.sqlite had no effect...

Fork your dependencies, trim them to only your use case, never update unless it breaks for your users. I’ve been vocal about this for 10+ years. I’ve always said that updating is way riskier than latent bugs (which can be tracked and CVEs monitored).

If you are updating a dependency, it’s on you to analyze every single commit in the full transitive set of dependencies. If you dont see anything compelling, dont update!

I remember at HashiCorp once in awhile an engineer would try to update a dep or replace a DIY lib with an external one and id always ask “show me the commit we need.” Dont update for the sake of it.

Feeling pretty swell about this mentality with all the supply chain attacks happening.
