Greg Swann might want to re-evaluate his approach, his swagger or arrogance might pass the pub with his corporate mates, however saying directly to fans "they dont care, they are happy with the game" is pathetic. I really dislike his arrogance, its not how I operate..
Essendon clearly loved the club connection with Mark McVeigh. But a huge part of his appeal was his development chops. Both at GWS and coaching the Under 18 Allies. The Dons believe they have the list now that needs exactly that kind of development. GWS CEO Dave Matthews was his referee in the Dons process. “As an assistant coach you have to take the risk and think, ‘Can I be the man?’. I think he can be the man.” Says McVeigh will find a way to get James Hird back to Essendon in some capacity @FOXFOOTY
Don’t know the assistant coach who has helped to oversee the Swans culture for the last few years which makes his appointment an interesting choice. He must be a no-brainer star to beat Hird. I cannot believe he has the management experience, coaching acumen or leadership skills of Hird but he was on the Presidents wedding party.

I’m rapidly losing what remaining faith I have in Andrew Welsh and his L-plate administration. The coaching selection process has been a shambles: Hird should have been ruled out upfront if he wasn’t going to get the job so other candidates could be enticed to apply, avoiding the inevitable rupture that will occur in the supporter base when he doesn’t get it; we’ve had multiple delays and changes to the timeline with no communication to members about what’s happening; we’ve wasted valuable time consulting Kevin Muscat which seemingly serves little purpose other than to flex Di Pietro’s Rolodex, meanwhile we’re falling further and further behind on locking in our broader coaching group and football department staff for next year and may struggle again to fill vacancies with quality people. The last thing Essendon needs is further off-field instability but at the same time it’s getting harder and harder to have confidence that we have the right people running the club.

3,983 days after he departed as coach of Essendon, James Hird has met with the Bombers in his bid to replace Brad Scott.
The club legend pitched his case to Dons powerbrokers today

"Geelong has made an unexpected play for Zach Merrett via their coach Chris Scott." 👀
Chris Scott texted Zach Merrett directly to say that he is one of Geelong's targets at the end of the season, per Tom Morris.
Nate Caddy walked into Brad Scott's office roughly two months ago and told him he wanted to sign on until 2031.
The two had spoken about signing the 20-year-old up long-term... but this approach was relatively unprompted.
As the heat on the club was being dialled up - Caddy wanted to show the Bombers faithful, young core group of players + future Essendon trade targets that he was in this for the long haul.
Scott's subsequent sacking delayed things slightly, but this extension was verbally committed to months ago.
Nate Caddy is chips in on Essendon and the rebuild. @7NewsMelbourne@7AFL
Our own @AndyMaherDFA had some very interesting mail from a sportsman lunch attended by Nate Caddy's dad in relationship to his son's future and James Hird

Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd is now mentoring emerging Bombers star Nate Caddy.
He’s working with Caddy on forward craft and providing tips in his game.
Caddy is making all the right noises to the Dons about staying long-term as Tasmania begins hunting his signature
