A good listener is someone who focuses completely on what another person is saying and engages with their ideas in a thoughtful, comprehensive way.

Good listening is not just about learning what a person is saying, but making a commitment to digesting the information they are presenting and responding constructively.

It's common for us to listen to political leaders. That's because the leader has to say what they want us to hear.

Now, was that hearing or was it listening. There's a difference. Quiet a big difference.

Now visualise role reversal. When people speak and the leader listens.

Stretch that imagination a little longer.

Imagine a leader walking across thousands of miles, through millions of people and listening to them patiently. Their worries, fears, anxieties, concerns hopes...... That's Unique. That's different.

By the time that he has even listened to a small portions of the many that he would listen to, he has already realised that all that he wished to speak to them is not important anymore.

Because the mind of the leader carries only what his people share with him. His heart carries feelings of compassion towards the millions who opened their hearts to him.

The Leader's plans are now SIMPLE. Put In a single word- COMMITMENT. To work for the people alone.

There's no 'self' left anymore. There's no @RahulGandhi that exists anymore. The name is no more his identity. He is now an aggregation of the millions he listened to. People don't listen to him when he speaks, rather they listen to their own voice through him.

That's endearing. That's powerful. That's also threatening to adversaries. Because when he speaks, on India or abroad, the world know that it is not he that speaks. Rather his words are the words of millions to whom he is a very good listener.

I first met RahulGandhi at his interaction with editors in Mumbai. I wanted to see for myself if all that the Delhi media said about him was true. When I discovered it wasn't, I posted my support of him on Twitter. But it was just 2016 and b4 demonetisation. The jury on Modi was still out so I was unsure still if he was good or bad for the country. I maintained some element of neutrality until it was obvious the Modi regime is very e vil and destructive for the country. Now I am completely unabashed and unapologetic about taking sides - the side of right over might. For, as Plato said, there can be no justice where right is might.
