Denmark has been among the leaders in supporting Ukraine since day one of the full-scale invasion, and keeps developing new formats of cooperation that work.

OGUN POLICE ARREST FIVE SUSPECTS, RECOVER STOLEN ITEMS IN ADO-ODO AS TWO TEENAGERS CONFESS TO MULTIPLE SHOP BREAKING

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have recorded significant operational successes in the Ado-Odo axis, arresting five suspects connected to separate incidents of market shop breaking and recovering stolen Items. Among those apprehended are two teenagers who confessed to a string of shop break-ins within the area.

In the first incident, on 2nd September, 2026, at about 0330hrs, some concerned community members reported that a watchman observed suspicious movements inside a market stall upon which patrol teams were immediately mobilized to the scene, apprehending one Lateef kalid, age 15 and kareem Jamal, age 16 inside the shop and recovering stolen foodstuffs and other items. Interrogation of the duo led to the arrest of 14-year-old Sofiu Alabi, who admitted to providing the key used to access the shop. All three suspects have been charged to court.

In a related development on 4th September, 2026, local security operatives from the So-Safe Corps apprehended two teenagers, Taofik Abioro (16) and Ogundele Monday (15) and handed them over to Police detectives. During preliminary interrogation, both suspects confessed to participating in multiple shop burglaries across Ado-Odo while subsequent searches at their premises yielded additional stolen items. The case has been referred for further investigation, while tracking efforts continue for an outstanding accomplice.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the officers of the Ado-Odo Division for their swift action and lauded the So-Safe Corps and local community members for their synergy, emphasizing that collaborative stakeholder engagement remains vital to disrupting criminal networks.

CP Ojajuni particularly urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to exercise firm supervision over young persons to prevent youth involvement in crime. He further advised business owners to bolster basic security around their premises and promptly report suspicious activities to the authorities via;

What I Ask For at Sixty

Tomorrow, by the grace of God, I turn sixty.

I am aware that some of you already know this, and that this requires no announcement from me. Consider this, therefore, a reminder and, if you would permit me, a request made before the goodwill of tomorrow begins to arrive.

Over the years, I have been deeply humbled by the affection, prayers and goodwill that have accompanied my birthdays. Such occasions leave one grateful for the friendships, fellowships and bonds accumulated across the years. Yet there is one appeal I have consistently made to my friends, supporters, well-wishers, associates and admirers, far and near: please do not spend a kobo on a gift for me, nor undertake any venture of material consequence in my honour.

This year, as I turn sixty, I am even more resolute about that request. Sixty is an age at which our people expect a man to have exchanged impulse for reflection, vanity for gratitude, and the desire to accumulate for the wisdom to give. It is an age that asks fewer questions about what one has gathered and far more searching questions about what one has contributed. I therefore appeal once again to everyone who wishes me well not to spend money marking my day, but to channel whatever resources they may have intended for such gestures to a charity, cause or person of their choice anywhere in our country.

A nation is ennobled by the care it extends to those who need the strength of others. Our means may differ, but generosity is not measured only by the size of what we give. Sometimes the smallest kindness arrives at precisely the moment another person needs to be reminded that humanity has not forgotten them. For me, such an act is among the most eloquent prayers anyone can offer on my behalf.

None of us arrives at sixty, or indeed at any meaningful station in life, entirely by our own strength. We are all beneficiaries of the kindness of family, friends, teachers, colleagues, supporters, well-wishers and, sometimes, strangers who had nothing to gain from extending a hand to us. It is only fitting that we repay such debts in the currency in which they were incurred: by extending kindness to those who may never be in a position to repay us. Every hand that lifts another somewhere in Nigeria tomorrow will be a candle lit for me.

What I ask for, in place of advertisements, gifts and celebrations, is prayer. Pray for me, and pray for Nigeria. Pray for the peace of our communities, the prosperity of our people, the wisdom of our leaders and the fulfilment of the immense promise of this nation. Ours is a country blessed with an industrious people, an extraordinary instinct for enterprise, a generosity that travels easily across family and community, and a youthful population whose imagination, talent and ambition remain among our greatest national assets. Our diversity is a vast inheritance, our cultures are reservoirs of strength, and our capacity to find fellowship across difference is one of the enduring beauties of the Nigerian spirit.

Thank you for your understanding over the years, and for the loyalty, affection, friendship and prayers that have accompanied me this far. I wish you long life, good health, fulfilment in all that is noble, and the quiet joy of being useful to someone who may never be able to repay you.

Friedrich Merz @bundeskanzler and I discussed Russia’s attack on the airfield in Leipzig. This is yet another Russian escalation, and it is important that Germany responded. Friedrich briefed me on the measures taken. For my part, I assured him that Ukraine is ready to help – with expertise, experience, or in other areas where Germany may need it. Our teams are already finalizing the text of the Drone Deal, and this will, among other things, definitely provide both Germany and Ukraine with additional defense capabilities. We discussed the substance of the agreement and when we will be able to sign it. We agreed to meet in person. I also thanked Friedrich for Germany’s steadfast support and leadership in protecting the lives of Ukrainians – there will be new air defense packages from Germany this month. Thank you, Germany! Today, Russian “shaheds” struck one of the universities in Kyiv – right during classes. Fortunately, the students were in the shelter – 160 students. Overnight, the Russians struck Odesa. An ordinary residential building and city infrastructure were damaged. Five people were injured, including a child. In Kherson, the Russians struck a building used by first responders and police. In the Kharkiv region, thousands of people were left without electricity after a strike, and there are injuries. In many regions, air raid alerts continue because of the threat of jet-powered drones and aerial bombs.

Unfortunately, there has been far too little response from the world and its most influential leaders to this latest Russian escalation of strikes. When Russian-Iranian “shaheds” are waging this kind of round-the-clock terror in Europe, it cannot remain a problem for our country alone. Every such strike against Ukrainians, every such use of “shaheds” and other weapons against our cities and villages is effectively Russia practicing tactics that it is preparing for other countries and other peoples as well. Now is the time to act. Evil must be stopped the moment it rears its head. Absolutely clear and decisive steps are needed to pressure Russia for this and to help Ukraine. Every partner knows what is needed: air defense for Ukraine, sanctions against Russia, and a significant increase in defense production. I thank everyone who is truly helping!
