No matter how good you think you are, when you enter a new system, you need time to adjust. Sometimes, you even start doubting yourself until you understand how things work.

When we joined the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), the first thing we noticed was that they followed the American education system rather than the British system we were used to. You could score over 90% in a course and still not earn the highest grade. It was completely different from the grading system we knew, where 70% was already an "A".

Many of our core courses were taken together with PhD students, so the expectations were naturally very high.

One thing that also impressed me was that every registered student received the prescribed textbook for each course free of charge.
Every new environment comes with a learning curve. Don't be discouraged if things seem difficult at first. Give yourself time to adjust, keep learning, and before long, you'll find your footing.
