1GW NORTHERN ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT
I had a productive meeting with the Honourable Minister of Power, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, to discuss the Sun Africa Power Project and the proposed 1GW Northern Electrification Project.
Following the Northern Governors’ approval for the formation of NNEC as the Northern Region’s renewable energy company, NNEC has now been registered and is the vehicle for the implementation of the project.
This initiative, financed by the US EXIM Bank with the support of the US Government, aims to deliver up to 1,000 MW of utility-scale solar generation capacity with 500MW BESS across participating Northern States and signifies a new and stronger relationship between Nigeria and the United States.
We reviewed progress on project structuring and governance frameworks designed to insulate the initiative from political interference, safeguard investments, and guarantee financing repayment throughout the project’s life.
A memo will be presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for approval before full implementation commences.
We are grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his visionary leadership in driving this transformative initiative.
Together, we are building a brighter, more self-reliant Northern Nigeria through strategic renewable energy infrastructure.
@USAfricaCommand This strong relationship fostered by the NSA at such a critical time is already yielding positive results. Commendable leadership and strategic engagement. Weldone Sir.
@officialamaster A highly commendable initiative. NASENI and PICTT are driving the kind of innovation, technology transfer, and industrial development needed to position Nigeria for long-term economic growth and self-reliance. Well done!
By 2050, Africa will have the world’s largest youth population. The real challenge is preparing them to lead in the technologies of the future.
Nigeria cannot compete in the industries of tomorrow with the infrastructure of yesterday.
That is why NASENI is establishing the Sustainable Emerging Technologies Institute (SETI) in Kano.
I was pleased to host the HM @fmitiofficial, Dr. @joduwole, at the institute as we continue building a platform that bridges the gap between talent, research, and industry.
Through SETI, we are creating an environment where the next generation of innovators can develop solutions that will drive Nigeria’s industrial and technological transformation.

@instablog9ja As of now, there is no publicly available direct evidence showing Tuggar making such a statement. What exists are media reports and interpretations attributed to unnamed sources or secondary accounts rather than a clear and verifiable quotation from Tuggar himself.
@channelstv We all know that what happened in Bauchi State wasn’t a primary election because it wasn’t free and fair. Muhammed Abubakar isn’t the right candidate for Bauchi State and we all know this.
@yesmylo@YusufTuggar People of Bauchi, it is important that you carefully examine the situation and come out to support @YusufTuggar. He will certainly not disappoint you, and we are hopeful that he will move Bauchi State forward and bring meaningful progress.
Nigeria approaches this platform as a practical, results-oriented partnership. Since late 2025, cooperation with the United States has moved beyond dialogue to tangible outcomes, strengthening coordination, accountability, and our collective capacity to counter violent threats while upholding the protection of civilians.
@yesmylo May God continue to bless all our service men and women who continually put their lives on the line in keeping the country safe.
MAY NIGERIA SUCCEED 🇳🇬 🙏 ♥️
