I think the problem is much deeper than who replaces Gusau.

We sometimes talk as if changing the NFF President will automatically reform Nigerian football. But who replaces him? From the State FAs upwards, many of the same interests and alliances operate within the same system.

Football politics is politics. It is tough, complicated and sometimes very dirty. You don’t reform that simply by changing one person at the top.

The bigger question for me is, how many genuine reformists do we actually have within the football ecosystem, and are they willing and able to organise, contest for influence and change the system from within?

Until we answer that, replacing individuals may just change the names, not the system.
