The Abbey Christian Brothers’ Grammar School / Scoil na Mainistreach Iúr Cinn Trá is a voluntary day school for boys aged 11 – 18 years in Newry, County Down.
The half-back line select begins with Fergus Toale, who produced dazzling displays to help @Abbey_CBS win the @DanskeBank_UK MacRory Cup for the first time in 20 years. The wing half-back boasts an impressive club medal haul with @drominteegac , enjoying Ulster success at both U16 and U18 levels. Fergus played a central role in that U18 triumph and was duly named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performances.
The second of our @DanskeBank_UK MacRory Cup winning players to be selected is centre half-back and team captain, Diarmaid O’Rourke. Diarmaid continues a proud family tradition at @Abbey_CBS , following in the footsteps of his father Aidan, who was awarded an Ulster Colleges All-Star in 1995. The @drominteegac man having claimed both county and provincial Minor titles with his club. Diarmaid is also a former @QueensGAA University Future Star.
Completing the half-back line, and making it an all-@Abbey_CBS selection, is Keelan McEntee at No. 7. Keelan follows proudly in the footsteps of his father Tony, who claimed Ulster Colleges All-Star honours in 1994, 1995 and 1996. The @crossrangers man was a key figure in #CBS’s @DanskeBank_UK MacRory Cup success and featured with the @Armagh_GAA Minor team that reached both the Ulster and All-Ireland finals.

𝟐𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 ❤️
It has been two long decades since our MacRory team last reached the final of the top division in schools’ Gaelic football. What this group of young men has achieved is nothing short of remarkable.
They don’t just carry jerseys onto the pitch — 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦. Every student, past pupil and future Abbey player will look to this squad as a symbol of belief, commitment and what is possible when you give everything for the Abbey crest.
As they prepare for their final on Sunday week, we would be incredibly grateful for any support you can give to help them on this journey.
Please consider scanning the 𝐐𝐑 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞 / 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤 (https://t.co/91LgOLwJEL) to make a donation and stand with these boys as they write a special chapter in our school’s history. ❤️🖤💛

What a win for these young men and management. They fought for every ball and played with a class beyond their years. A thoroughly deserved victory, and we couldn’t be prouder. Now the focus turns to the final — let’s finish the job 💪
