He says the name just fine when he’s begging the Qataris for a personal jet or the Saudis for funding for his son-in-law’s private equity firm.
Wonder what’s changed?

3. When you receive a donated kidney, they don't take out the bad one. They just add the good one in.
4. Your immune system doesn't know you have eyes. Otherwise, it would attack them and make you blind. Injuring one eye can introduce eye bits to the bloodstream and basically give your immune system the knowledge of having eyes. Then it might decide it really fucking hates that and attack your non-injured eye.

7. The brain itself has no nerve endings, so it can't feel pain. That's why patients can be wide awake during brain surgery and made to perform certain actions.
8. That ringing in silence isn't silence. When everything is quiet and you hear a faint ringing? That's your brain listening to its own nervous system. You are hearing yourself functioning.
9. You will never experience your own death. You only experience approaching it... Then nothing. Everyone else gets closure, stories, funerals, and memories. You don't. You never know you've become a memory. From your perspective, the story just stops mid-sentence.
Never seen Pakistanis, Indians, Afghans, Arabs, Iranians, and Americans more united than they are in their disgust for Pakistan’s military-backed Prime Minister under this tweet.
Been a while since I saw the world unite like this.
Maybe Shehbaz Sharif deserves a Nobel himself.
Skill means absolutely nothing without luck, network effect and distribution. I went into a LinkedIn rabbit hole of looking for some of my favourite ex-cricketers. Daryl Cullinan hit 17 international centuries. Pat Symcox took over 120 international wickets in the 90s. Andrew Hudson used to open the batting with Gary Kirsten and spent a chunk of his career belting Venkatesh Prasad all over Indian pitches.
If you look at their LinkedIn profiles today, Daryl Cullinan works in real estate. Pat Symcox is a property broker. Andrew Hudson is in corporate sales.
Imagine being one of the best in the world at what you do, and then turning 35 and having to draft a resume. Imagine going from 60,000 people screaming your name at the Wanderers to sending calendar invites for a Tuesday morning alignment call.
Now look at the Indian cricketers they played against in the 90s. Not a single one of them is sending out CVs for corporate sales roles. They are commentating, doing IPL analysis, running academies, shooting brand campaigns, or sitting on advisory boards. They never had to leave the cricket ecosystem.
Were the Indian players ten times more talented than Daryl Cullinan? No. In fact, a lot of them were worse than him. (Sanjay Manjrekar has 5 centuries, Akash Chopra has 0 centuries)
The difference isn't skill. It’s distribution.
In India, playing cricket is top-of-the-funnel customer acquisition. The market’s media engine gives an Indian cricketer built-in, lifetime distribution. Playing the sport creates a network effect that monetizes them for the next 40 years, long after their knees give out.
The South Africans had world-class skill, but they operated in a market without that media distribution. The moment their physical skill hit expiry date, reach disappeared overnight.
A lot of people in their 30s and 40s think they’re safe because they’ve built up 15 years of deep domain expertise. But if you’re not lucky enough to own a skill in a domain or field with crazy network effects, or organic distribution, you really have to start thinking about how to make your career, career. Especially in a post AI world, where skills can get replicated easily.
It also makes me think about my own setup deeply. Am I in an industry with crazy network effects? Do I have enough organic distribution and a strong enough network to coast when pure skill stops being enough? Honestly, maybe that’s the real reason I'm writing online. Just trying to build my distribution because I may not have it in me to take on crazy career pivots like these South African legends have. Actually now, I have way way way more respect for these cricketers.
PTI's basic position is that the final decision about provinces will be taken by Imran Khan Sahib. He must be involved in the dialogue.
The position that you are taking is remarkably opportunistic apart from being pointless as far as the future well-being of Karachi is concerned. Karachi's problems will not be resolved by placing it under federal control. The disaster that Islamabad has become is before us all.
The people of Karachi indeed voted for PTI in 2024 giving us a sweep of 21 seats in the National Assembly and over 40 seats in the Sindh Assembly. These seats were denied to the people of Karachi. The same operation to rig electoral outcomes was applied to local government elections in order to hand over Karachi to the clutches of corruption and misgovernance by those who now wish to separate Karachi from the rest of Sindh. Who is to guarantee that Karachi as federal territory will not be handed over to some preferred mafia? As long as elections have no sanctity no system of government will amount to anything other than coercive fraud.
PTI has always supported empowered local governments and will continue to do so. Karachi must have a clean, empowered and competent government elected by the people of Karachi.
The plan to make new provinces by repealing Article 239(4) of the Constitution attacks the very foundation of Pakistani federalism and will leave Pakistan a less cohesive state. Article 239(4) was adopted in 1973 with the consent of all the federating units. It gives the provincial assembly of each province the power to approve a change in the composition of the province with a 2/3 majority. This provision is the cornerstone of the Federal Social Contract that lies at the heart of the Constitution. How can PTI become party to an abolition of Article 239(4) by a parliament that is a product of an entirely rigged election? PTI opposed as a matter of principle the right of this parliament to enact the 26th and 27th amendments. How can PTI now become party to an amendment by the same parliament that erodes the federal structure of the state?
Leaving all else aside, it is clear that a severing of Karachi from the rest of Sindh would lead to massive disquiet that would sow poison across the length and breadth of Sindh. This poison would not leave Karachi untouched. The last thing the residents of Karachi need is being surrounded by an insurgency. Short-sighted fools who learn nothing from history are never in short supply.
The only wise and effective way forward for Karachi and all of Pakistan is to insist on electoral integrity so that the will of the people comes to matter. The people voted away the MQM and the PPP from Karachi in 2024. They were fraudulently reimposed by the would-be saviours of Karachi.
Please stop playing with emotions, principles and practicality. One expects a better from you.
Steve Kerr says Roger Federer taught his Warriors team the secret to sustained success wasn’t outworking everyone, it was building a life around your craft you never want to escape from
“I’ll tell you a great story about Roger Federer. We were playing in China with the Warriors in 2017. Roger was in Shanghai for the Masters tournament, so we invited him to come speak to the team.”
“Draymond Green asked him, ‘How do you sustain success? How have you managed to win majors 20 years after you first won one?’ Everyone was expecting him to say, ‘I work harder than everybody,’ the will, all the clichés.”
“Roger Federer says, ‘I get up every morning and I make breakfast for my kids. Then I take them to school and drop them off. Then I go practice tennis for about two hours, and I’ve figured out a really good routine where I don’t destroy my body, but I can get all the work in I need.”
“‘Then I go have lunch with my wife. In the evening, we cook dinner together. The kids are all home from school. We ask them about school. There’s so much joy in the house. We put them to bed, and then I put my head on the pillow and go, “Man, that was just a great day.” And I’ve been doing that for 20 years.’”
“And it was like, yes. That’s it. That’s the formula. That’s what leads to sustained success. He loves tennis. He loves his family. He loves life. It’s not outworking everybody and banging your head against the wall, ‘I’m going to be better than everybody.’ It’s allowing your natural talent to shine through with a work ethic, with a great family life, with perspective, with peace, with mindfulness.”
“It’s perspective. It’s joy. It’s passion. It’s mindfulness. It’s an awareness that we are truly lucky. To get the most out of ourselves, it’s our daily rituals and experiences and love and joy.”
Adding my support here to GC and the other former international captains. I hope the court ordered medical assessment be allowed to run its course, and that family visits continue. I hope Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves
BREAKING NEWS: 22 Former international cricket captains have once again written a letter to Pakistan PM over the treatment for Imran Khan. They first wrote a similar letter in February and this one comes after Pak allegedly didn’t completely comply with SC directions.
They have laid down 3 demands:
1. That the medical board directed by the Supreme Court — including Mr Khan's own doctors — be permitted to complete a full and independent assessment of his health, particularly the reported loss of vision in his right eye.
2. That the weekly family visits reinstated by the Court be honoured without interruption or administrative delay.
3. That whatever the outcome of that medical assessment, the treatment recommended by it be provided without delay.
Three Indians - Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar are among the 22 former captains.
