Strongly urge @TelanganaCMO to not extend lockdown. If goal is to reduce crowding, then we may consider evening curfews (6 PM onwards) or mini-lockdowns for COVID clusters. But expecting ~3.5cr people to live for weeks with just a 4 hour lockdown relaxation is not fair at all 4/5

The only long-term solution is universal vaccination. Lockdowns give a cruel choice to the poor: poverty, police atrocities or pandemic. They make a public health crisis into a law and order problem. They are neither a scientific nor a humanitarian strategy. 4/5

Govt’s numbers mean nothing because there are thousands of cases that aren’t counted or don’t even get tested. Especially in rural areas, where healthcare infrastructure is near absent

Yesterday, GoI congratulated itself for containing spread of corona saying only 1.8% of population was affected

Govt’s own sero-survey from Dec-Jan found covid antibodies in 21.4% of adults surveyed. This was before the second wave, the number is only likely to be higher 1/2

DCM driver Subhan was detained by traffic cops near Hyd airport & beaten. He was taken to police station where cops tortured him for 3 days. They used anti-Muslim insults & told him to go to Pak. Y'day I got to know about him & immediately spoke to CI who got him released 1/4

बेहद अफ़सोस की बात है कि हमने बिहार के मशहूर कार्डीआलॉजिस्ट डॉ प्रभात कुमार को खो दिया।डॉ कुमार कोरोना संक्रमित थे।10 मई को इलाज के लिए उन्हें बिहार से हैदराबाद लाया गया था।डॉ कुमार की कमी हम सब को बहुत महसूस होगी, लेकिन ग़रीबों के दिलों में उनके लिए हमेशा ख़ास जगह बनी रहेगी। 1/2
