Oscar-winning actor Susan Sarandon and “Hacks” star Hannah Einbinder were among protesters detained by NYPD officers during a Jewish Voice for Peace demonstration in New York opposing Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly.

Protesters held signs reading “Stop Arming Israel” and “End the Genocide” as Netanyahu prepared to address the UN.

Both Sarandon and Einbinder have repeatedly spoken out for Palestinian rights despite facing professional backlash in Hollywood. Einbinder has said the cost of remaining silent on Palestine is greater than the cost to her career, while Sarandon has previously spoken publicly about losing work over her views on Israel and Gaza.

Two of the firms - Greenkote PLC and JC Bamford Excavators Ltd (JCB) - are headquartered in Britain, while many others like AirBnB operate in the UK.

The war in Lebanon has reached a point where it can no longer be described as anything other than genocide.
