African Development Bank Launches $10 Billion AI Initiative**

The African Development Bank, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has announced that its "AI 10 billion" initiative, aimed at boosting Africa's artificial intelligence capacity, is moving into implementation.

The bank said the project aims to mobilize $1 billion a year over the next 10 years and create 25 million new jobs by 2035.

The bank's 2025 report shows that inclusive AI adoption, particularly in agriculture, trade, manufacturing, finance and health, could add up to $1 trillion to the continent's GDP.

Bank Vice President Solomon Quaynor said the initiative's main goal is to bring public and private sector investments together so that the benefits of AI translate into competitiveness, jobs and inclusive growth.

The program will start in 5 countries and is planned to expand to 20 countries by the end of 2027, bringing in development partners.
