๐ฏ๐ต๐ The most Japanese celebration ever
After Japanโs 2โ2 draw against the Netherlands, fans rushed onto Tokyoโs famous Shibuya Crossing to celebrate.
For exactly 40 seconds.
Why? Because the pedestrian light was green.
As soon as it turned red, everyone stopped celebrating and obediently moved back to the sidewalks.
Even in the middle of a spontaneous football celebration, the Japanese still refused to break traffic rules.

We love to call men "emotionally unavailable" when the reality is that most of them are just psychologically exhausted. A man will spend his entire day navigating a brutal, hyper-competitive world where his margin for error is absolutely zero, just to secure his future. When he finally gets home and just wants 30 minutes of absolute, unbothered silence to let his nervous system decompress, we immediately pathologize him. We call him distant. We say he's pulling away. We demand he instantly switch gears, stimulate our minds, and perform emotional labor the second he walks through the door. We have completely forgotten that men are human beings who run out of battery, not entertainment centers built to cure our boredom. Stop diagnosing a man's absolute exhaustion as a lack of love. Sometimes his silence is just survival
It was 8 PM on a Friday, and my partner was dead asleep on the living room sofa, still in his work clothes.
I was on FaceTime with a friend who was getting ready for a massive night out. She asked what my weekend plans were, and I flipped the camera to show him resting.
She sighed, doing her makeup. โGirl, doesn't it bother you? Youโre young, it's Friday, and you're just watching a man sleep. You deserve the princess treatment. If he really wanted to take you out and show you off, he would.โ
I looked at him. I looked at the dark circles under his eyes and the laptop still open on the coffee table.
What my friend didnโt see was that earlier that week, he had quietly taken over two of my biggest bills so I could afford to take a lower-paying job that I actually loved. He had been pulling 14-hour days for months, absorbing all the financial pressure so I could finally breathe.
I didnโt argue with her. I just calmly said,
โHe is giving me the soft life. The soft life is me waking up without panic because he goes to war every single day. Iโm not going to punish him for returning from that war exhausted.โ
The line got quiet. I told her to have fun, hung up, and draped a blanket over him.
The internet has completely warped our idea of what love looks like. It has convinced women that "princess treatment" means endless aesthetic dates, constant entertainment, and a partner who operates with infinite energy.
But a man cannot simultaneously be in the trenches securing your absolute safety, and have the carefree energy of a guy with zero responsibilities.
I realized that night: The ultimate luxury isn't a man who takes you out to be seen. Itโs a man who makes your life so incredibly secure that fiercely protecting his rest becomes your biggest priority.
The fastest way to command premium prices is to look a paying client in the eye and say, "Keep your money."
In 2018, I was sitting in the office of an "old money" landlord in Ikoyi waiting to negotiate a deal for my agency.
A young, loud guy walked in.
Gold chains clinking, designer clothes screaming for attention.
He wanted to rent one of the premium duplexes in the man's estate.
To prove he was serious, he literally unzipped a bag, dropped two yearsโ rent in raw cash on the mahogany desk, and leaned back, smiling.
Big boy!
He was ready. He had the funds.
The elderly landlord didn't even touch the money.
He looked at the boy, slowly sipped his tea, and said, "This property is not for you. Pack your money and leave."
The boy was furious. He shouted, insulted the old manโs pride, zipped up his bag, and stormed out.
I was shocked. I asked the landlord why he just rejected guaranteed millions of Naira in a tough economy.
The old man looked at me and dropped a masterclass in positioning:
This is the exact mistake destroying your brand right now.
You are suffering from "Revenue Starvation," so you accept every single client that has a heartbeat and a bank account.
โ You take the client who prices you down from โฆ250k down to โฆ50k.
โ You take the client who talks down to you.
โ You take the client who demands you rewrite the entire project three times because they "don't quite feel the vibe."
โ You take their money because you think "cash is cash."
Taaaaa! It's a giant lie!
Cash is not just cash.
Every client you accept is a brick in the architecture of your brand.
When you take on cheap, boundary-crossing clients, you send a psychological signal to the market that you have ZERO STANDARDS.
You are running a public toilet... And everyone is welcome as long as they drop a coin at the door.
Listen to me: A true Authority operates a VIP lounge. And in a VIP lounge, the bouncer at the door does more marketing than the DJ inside.
The moment your audience realizes that having money isn't enough to buy your time... that they actually have to qualify for your expertise, your perceived value goes through the roof.
Writ this somewhere:
โฐโโค In the art of the Courtship, the power belongs to the person who is willing to walk away from the table.
If you cannot say "No" to bad money, you will never be trusted with big money.
For the next 25 days, I am not just going to show you how to attract clients. I am going to show you how to build a barrier of entry so thick, that the people you do let in will feel privileged just to pay your invoice.
Day 5 is over. Stop building a circus. Start guarding the palace.

They came for vacation.
Then airspace closed. Flights were cancelled. Over 20,000 passengers were suddenly stranded across the Gulf.
Instead of chaos, the UAE made one move.
Department of Culture and Tourism โ Abu Dhabi reportedly sent a directive to every hotel in Abu Dhabi:
Do not check them out. Extend their stay. Send us the invoice.
Dubai issued a parallel order within hours.
According to the General Civil Aviation Authority, the state is covering accommodation and meal costs for affected travelers.
Private companies stepped up too. Holiday rental firms opened apartments for free โ and more than 250 hosts followed.
No panic pricing.
No sleeping on airport floors.
No โfigure it out yourself.โ
Just a country absorbing the cost until every visitor can return home safely.
Thatโs how you handle a crisis. ๐๐

I normally don't do this (and I won't be doing this again) but this lady needs half a million (naira) urgently for a lifesaving surgery and I'm not in a position to help right now (I've done so more than once before).

Who said it is only about opening shops? Does Chagoury have shops? Nigerians are more likely to be employees outside than employers. Others migrate to thrive and grow as a community, Nigerians โlargelyโ migrate to avoid poverty and support their families, hence safety is preferred to ensure a consistent income flow. This is why risk-taking is minimal. They hardly have prior mentorship or support when they arrive.
I said this once on a panel and everyone kept quiet. I have seen more Ghanaians in Diaspora running businesses than Nigerians. Lebanon is nothing to write home about and that is why a lot of Lebanese go outside to prosper. The market in Israel doesn't exist and they build for the market outside.
Nigeria has everything but we are full of excuses. Very few Nigerians do cross border business that is not importation related. The curse of easy money and little effort is our problem. It is a deep cultural malaise that manifests itself in leadership. The poor leadership is the symptom and not the cause.
Nigerians always like to compete and not collaborate. Everything is either a pissing contest or an ego-measuring exercise. We talk too much and do too little. The other African countries are beginning to catch on and the veil has been lifted away from our hubris.
People will stone me for this but let one who has built businesses in more than one African country and abroad as I have done cast the first stone.
The 'enabling environment' isn't the only hurdle. There are nearly 400k Nigerian-born residents in the UK, yet very few businesses of scale.
We have to admit: our educated elite often prioritizes the prestige and safety of middle management over the grit of entrepreneurship.
