📢Just released! We’ve published a new report, “It’s Silent: Race, Racism, and Safeguarding Children”.

As we approach #IWD25 we spent the day with a powerhouse group of women from the world of marketing and comms to think about how @Abianda1 uses its voice & amplifies experiences of young women. Huge thanks to @Media_Trust for hosting, @moni_natasha and others for their wisdom.
How unsurprising. Black children 6 times more likely to be strip-searched, and non-compliance with the rules in over half of cases. https://t.co/qmmczfNgcg
No child & family should have to attend a school exclusion hearing without representation! We have lawyers who provide free legal advice and representation to challenge the decision.

I’m a bit inconsistent with social media (well-being etc), so I’m a bit late with this - but this is what wrote about our amazing team for #IWD2023… and every day! @Abianda1
Happy International Women's Day! We work tirelessly to ensure that young women & girls can live free from harm & abuse. Our CEO @AbiBillinghurst would particularly like to celebrate the amazing Abianda team. Read her thoughts on #EmbracingEquity: https://t.co/om6O7lsVpS

@luhc Yes indeed! Often it’s not though. We see #youngwomen being encouraged to take on private tenancies as a solution to quick housing security… but that leads to less recourse to help, increased rates and increased debt and more punitive measures if they fall short! @Abianda1
There is so much #CountyLines content on TikTok. Lots in #Cuckooed homes which become dirty & dangerous trap houses. In so many of them there’s evidence of #girls & #women there, yet the focus of nearly all agencies remains on boys #WhereThereAreBoysThereAreGirls
This is a brilliant FREE resource for all London professionals who want to understand how #girls & #youngwomen are impacted by #countylines. Our brilliant Gender Consultant will help you think about approach & practice to get the best outcomes them. #rescueandresponse@MOPACLdn

I LOVE that I get to lecture MA #youth & #community students every year @GoldsmithsUoL! Such stimulating conversation, so rich in their thought & expertise. Realised earlier that this is my 10th year… having done my own youth work MA there in 2007!! @Abianda1
Personally this makes we want to rage at the world! Professionally, I fear for girls and young women who may need help from the police. When will it stop? Firearms officer ‘secretly filmed sex and shared video with colleagues’ https://t.co/5P4o1CZ3e4
We are celebrating our incredible team on #IWD2023. #EmbracingEquity is part of their work with young women and girls every day! https://t.co/yE4BAi1iPl
Thanks @MartinBarrow for this summary of the #ChildQ report, highlighting race & adultification as influencing factors. As a parent this is terrifying. As someone w/ child safeguarding responsibilities this is an appalling violation of this child’s rights.
Another Met Police scandal: a black girl was stripped and searched at school. The search, which involved the exposure of her intimate body parts, took place without an appropriate adult present and with the knowledge that she was menstruating. Case review:
