Today The Climate Book is finally released in many parts of the world!
I want to use my platform to share the reality of the climate crisis – to communicate a holistic picture of how the world is changing and what we need to do about it. That is why I created this book.

And balanced means a more plant-based diet --> less meat and dairy and more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, seeds and legumes (in the more economically developed countries) and it's also more beneficial for our health (IPCC SRCCL, 2019 section 5.6.3)
#WorldFoodDay
Diversification in the food system can reduce risks from #climatechange.
A balanced diet can present major opportunities for adaptation & mitigation while generating significant co-benefits in terms of human health.

We need 90,000 new homes for social rent every year in the UK to end homelessness and help the thousands of families currently stuck in temporary accommodation or on social housing waiting lists.
@trussliz will you deliver this as PM? @crisis_uk
This is as telling and wrenching five minutes of video about the climate crisis as I've ever seen--and it does not shy away from assigning blame, and the need for 'reparations,' to the global north. Thank you @clarissaward and @CNN

In 1990, the #IPCC released its first #ClimateReport concluding that human-caused #climatechange would soon become evident.
IPCC's latest reports show overwhelming evidence that human activities are the principal cause of climate change.

12 May was Int’l Day of Plant Health!
The latest #IPCC#ClimateReport shows that balanced, sustainable healthy diets such as those that include plant-based foods can help reduce emissions that contribute to #globalwarming. 🥦

A new CO2 budget created by scientists from Uppsala University and WWF shows that, if Sweden is to fulfill our part of the Paris Agreement, our emissions need to reduce more than 20% - already this year...

“Now it's time to stop burning our planet and start investing in abundant renewable energy all around us.” – @UN SG @antonioguterres at today’s press conference for the latest #IPCC#ClimateReport.
The next global #ClimateStrike is getting closer! This Friday, March 25th, we will take it to the streets again to protest for justice - for our present and our future.
Here is some information to get you started! 🧵

Hypercapitalism is killing us. The world's 10 richest men have *doubled* their wealth during this pandemic - while 99% of people have seen incomes fall. A one-off 99% tax on these 10 men's pandemic windfalls could fund vaccines for the world says @oxfam. https://t.co/mCGpwJHYqY
The more I learn about complex systems, the less likely it seems that the current, incremental approach to climate mitigation could work. It's as if, during the financial emergency in 2008, governments had said "we'll supply the bailout money at 2% a year between now and 2050".
It starts with personal changes at home to reduce our climate impact, but we also need climate activism & political engagement to bring about real reductions in emissions... well done @GretaThunberg@Fridays4future & all who protested peacefully & digitally. #TogetherForOurPlanet
I am pleased to announce that I’ve decided to go net-zero on swear words and bad language. In the event that I should say something inappropriate I pledge to compensate that by saying something nice. #COP26
I'm happy to pay a bit more for green energy (& buy less stuff), change my diet to more plant-based (& healthier) food, travel more slowly by train (& less in general)... if we still have a habitable planet to live on. World leaders please help!
#ClimateEmergency#ClimateCrisis
On climate, the world will succeed, or fail, as one.
Now is the time for real action.
#COP26 begins today. We must make it count.

“We need to remind ourselves that we can still turn this around. It’s entirely possible if we are prepared to change. Hope is all around us.”
I wrote a text about what it will take for the #COP26 to be successful.

"The unspoken subtext of this year’s Cop26 climate conference is clear to the young: that we, the suit-wearing, SUV-driving generation, will do our best within the limits of what big business can tolerate, and what elderly voters will accept."
