Tribute to Oliver Stevens (1999–2025)
We remember Oliver with great affection as a valued volunteer and much-loved member of the Ability Today community.
Through Surrey Choices, Oliver generously gave his time, personality and creativity always sourcing engaging videos and bringing enthusiasm, humour and warmth to everything he did.
Living with MPS II (Hunter syndrome), Oliver faced challenges with courage, honesty and his trademark cheeky smile. His love of digital content and storytelling reflected his curiosity and desire to connect with others.
Oliver’s life was far too short, but he leaves behind many fond memories and a lasting impression. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. He will always be part of the Ability Today family. 🖤

On #InternationalDayOfPersonswithDisabilities in collaboration with @MDI_UK student Raya Al Jadir highlights the urgent need for better media representation of disabled people from ethnic minority backgrounds. Real inclusion starts with who’s in the newsroom.

It’s great to see graduates of @ADJnews leading change and contributing to more inclusive storytelling. Moses’s journey highlights the real impact of creating accessible pathways into journalism. A powerful example to mark the International Day of Persons with Disability.

Honoured that Ability Today’s @ADJnews has been named a finalist for the Community Project of the Year at the @diversityaward! Grateful to be recognised alongside such inspiring changemakers. #EDA25
In this round of the small grants programme, we'll consider supporting organisations empowering people through education, training and employment. Priority will be given to organisations whose mission and project closely aligns with these areas.
Congratulations to our Academy student, @trullipootle on passing her @NCTJ_news Certificate in Foundation Journalism.
Kayleigh told us, “I didn’t think I could do it, but with all your support, I did. I am proud to have been, and will always be, part of the Academy.”
So proud of you, Kayleigh. Your hard work, resilience, and determination have truly paid off. A fantastic achievement, and we’re excited to see what you do next!

Access to Work should be a lifeline – but right now, it’s failing too many disabled people.
@AccessToWorkCol founded by Dr Shani Dhanda and Jacqueline Winstanley FRSA, has built a unique space for disabled people, employers, researchers, suppliers, & policymakers to come together, share experiences, & push for reform.
