To everyone who had something trashy to say about Oversabi Aunty… respectfully, were we watching the same movie? 😂
That was a great watch. Realistic, witty, entertaining and refreshingly relatable.
And to those saying Enioluwa didn’t act well, did you actually understand the character he was playing? Because that performance made sense within the world of the story.
Not every performance needs to be loud to be effective. Sometimes, you simply need to understand the character before critiquing the actor.
Oversabi Aunty? I enjoyed it. Period.
No. 1! 💪💪💪💪
OVERSABI AUNTY is now showing on Netflix and Kava! 🎬🔥
And BESTIE is coming to ALL CINEMAS from 16th December! 🎬❤️
Relatable. Funny. Emotional. And packed with real-life lessons.
Fam, get ready! BESTIE is coming! 🚀

Parenting is hard, and it goes beyond being overly religious. And I really love how Oversabi Aunty addressed that. 👏🏽❤️
As someone who watches movies to learn a thing or two, here are some of my takeaways. 🎬
🙏🏽 Faith and parenting go hand in hand.
Exposing children to prayers and Bible reading is a good thing, but it becomes almost meaningless when the parent who is supposed to guide them is emotionally distant and unavailable.
💬 Communication matters
Imagine finding out everything you need to know about your child from a stranger when you’re supposed to be their mentor, their safe space, and someone they can talk to about anything. 💔
👀 Look inward first.
You know how the Bible talks about removing the log in your own eye before worrying about the speck in someone else’s? Oversabi Aunty was busy policing other people’s children while her own children were struggling right under her nose. 😭
💔 What will people say? When Temitope got pregnant, I expected her to handle the situation like a mother. But she was more concerned about what people would say, and I was just there like 😳😳
👨👩👧👦 Be present.
A lot of parents are guilty of being so engrossed in their own world that they barely take the time to listen to or communicate with their children.
Being physically present isn't enough. Parenting has no manual. And leaving your job to become a full-time housewife doesn’t automatically make you a better parent than a working-class mother. Being present is more than just being physically available.
🫂 Be your child’s safe space.
Oversabi Aunty was a good reminder that parents need to do better. Be approachable. Listen to your children. Create an environment where your child can come to you even when they’ve messed up badly.
You should be their first point of call. Ideally, you should be the first person your child thinks of when they have a problem, not the last.
🚨 Strict parenting doesn't automatically equal good parenting.
You can be strict and still be emotionally unavailable. You can set boundaries and still make your child feel safe enough to talk to you.
A very relatable storyline and a good watch for me. 🎬❣️
Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham are bringing their movies to cinemas just five days apart, and honestly, I keep asking myself: why are we always forced to choose?
Toyin, this is where I think you’re playing the wrong game. 😂
Funke has practically claimed the Christmas season and has built a habit of giving fans that big December experience. Why not take a different lane and give us a January blockbuster?
Imagine Funke closing the year with a massive Christmas hit, then Toyin opening the year with another massive January hit. Two different seasons.
Instead of fans having to pick one movie over the other, we could be getting back-to-back blockbusters.
And let's be honest: whether there’s an actual rivalry or fans simply created one, the comparison is already there. Putting two highly anticipated movies just five days apart inevitably makes people compare them—and somebody’s audience is going to feel squeezed.
Funke owns Christmas. Toyin, why not own January?
Two realistic blockbuster seasons instead of making us pick sides abeg.
@OtisOyindamola@ceiyon_ You are the one who definitely lacks good adviser...Would u go to the cinema in January when work, schools have resumed.. So only the almighty funke is allowed to realese a movie in December 🤦♀️
