“This is Europe’s border policy laid bare, outsourcing mass expulsion and death to Libya, where the desert becomes a graveyard.” @DavidYambio
The EU is ignoring the inhuman treatment of migrants + refugees in #Libya. Such type of cooperation must end.

Now confirmed by the European Court of Human Rights: Greece systematically pushes people back at its borders. The court ruled in two cases (A.R.E. and G.R.J. v Greece) that Greece subjects people to enforced disappearances by arresting and secretly detaining them – with impunity.
Big news! The EU Court of Justice has assigned our Hamoudi v. Frontex appeal to its Grand Chamber!
It will hold a hearing on the groundbreaking damages claim filed by Alaa Hamoudi following a 17-hour pushback operation by Frontex and the Hellenic Coast Guard on 28-29 April 2020.

Court imposes 'impossible requirement' on asylum seekers in Frontex cases, say activists
via @InfoMigrants
Why have court rulings shielded the agency from accountability and restricted justice for victims?

🟢 Homayoun Sabetara has been released from prison. Finally, long 3 months after his appeal trial, even longer 3 years after his false arrest as a "smuggler". He arrived in Thessaloniki yesterday evening. #FreeHomayoun
Abolish Frontex stands up against Fortress Europe.
The list of 60,620 documented deaths due to European migration policies was displayed in Marseille on Saturday, December 14th for International Migrants Day.
We remember and commemorate each one of these persons.
On our case: FM v Frontex, @DavidYambio told @fanpage that:
“For the European authorities, a refugee must be a direct victim of something in order to open his case before the Court of Justice, but it seems clear to us that if a person who has the legitimate right to seek asylum under the 1951 Geneva Convention or the refugee status cannot do so because he is stuck in a country that denies this right, the applicant is already a victim,”

“On this #InternationalMigrantsDay I see weird publications from people who claim to celebrate the resilience of migrants. And a ridiculous one from @UNmigration and @IOMchief , I don’t see a reason to celebrate because as I speak there are millions and millions of Africans who are forced to flee and are dying every day” - @DavidYambio

Starting today, we'll recap campaigns that happened during 2024. Today is the day of @abolishfrontex
🚨October 26th marked 20 years of Frontex. The EU's border agency that it's a failure in itself and spreads nothing but death and insecurity. We can not afford their anniversary in 2025! We'll always call #AbolishFrontex 🚨
M. Elfallah, a 16-year-old boy, faces 4.670 years in prison for being on a boat with his father, fleeing Libya and wanting to reach the EU. He was charged with "facilitation of unauthorized entry of 467 third-country nationals into Greek territory".

Since 2011, prisons in Libya have transformed into detention centers and warehouses controlled by “families” and mafias, effectively forming a “syndicate of organized crime gangs.” These prisons were built to settle scores, with many turning into businesses that invest in “human beings.” The warlords and militia leaders responsible for these facilities boast about the number of detainees under their control, demanding ransom and money while extorting the wealthy, politicians, and others.
These families and mafia members have gradually consolidated power, becoming increasingly organized. Over time, the mafia and militias expanded their roles beyond traditional military protection, acting as guarantors of economic transactions and arbiters in civil and criminal disputes. They have even extended their reach to areas like combating witchcraft and sorcery, taking on public roles as moral guides, preaching etiquette and ethics to society.
Today, we can confidently say that Libya has moved past the era of disorganized militias; it now hosts a true mafia that has managed to establish itself as a fully-fledged state. This mafia not only receives support from within Libya but also enjoys consistent backing from the European Union and international agencies, which fuel and develop its foundations and structures.
"20 years of Frontex: an anniversary overshadowed by a tragic record, stained with the blood of innocents.
It’s not about counting candles, but counting lives lost.
Frontex kills. Dismantle it to protect humanity and save lives."
