I do not agree with this and I’ll like to address it from legal stand point.

1. If you are dating someone and they cheat, you can sue the 3rd party for “inducing breach of promise to marry” and you can get damages against the 3rd party.

2. If you are married to someone and they cheat, you can sue the 3rd party for enticement under law of tort, and you can get damages against the 3rd party.

3. If you are married to someone and they cheat, you can file a petition for dissolution of marriage and join the 3rd party as a co-respondent and you can get damages against the 3rd party for committing adultery with your spouse.

So a 3rd party who is aware that you are in a relationship either dating or married, owes you an accountability and if they do not uphold that accountability, the law punishes them for it.

The jurisprudence of this legal standpoint is to ensure that you are your brother’s keeper and you do not interfere unjustly with their marital affairs.
