“The future of museums is accessible. It is decolonized, queer and anti-racist. The future of museums is radically inclusive. If the future of museums is not those things, there is no future for museums.” #saa2019
are there instances of women becoming obsessed with historic events? definitely a male preoccupation with certain phases of history (Civil War, Nazis, Hitler) & reenactments of battles. women may obsess over reading, music & dance, kitties, doggies, clothes, gardening, men.
A romance author's 'family' posted that she had died by her own hand due to online bullying. The romance community rallied, raised $, supported her work. Two yrs later, she's back from the dead. And this will be the premise of her new book.

the richest man in the world should not be so online. it’s unbecoming. JP Morgan once took a boat to Egypt because he wanted to sleep in a tomb to imagine what it’s like to be a dead Pharaoh. that’s what rich people should be doing. not tweeting about NYT movie lists. yuck.
The venn diagram of ‘people responding w outrage’ & ‘people who have actually visited that exhibit’: O O
This thread & the @ExploreWellcome aren’t perfect but I’ll take this over all those dusty 2022 DEAI Initiatives any day.

It’s thankless and emotionally exhausting work to run social for a nonprofit.
@Wait_whatisthis@AAMers The gall to highlight this position as “diversity focused” when lack of salary transparency reinforces inequity and most harms the same people the position apparently hopes to entice into applying.

How much does it pay, @AAMers?
Weren’t you *just* bragging about doing the right thing/bare minimum by finally requiring salaries on job postings? Didn’t you *just* get good press and pat yourselves for this very easy and equitable decision?
I see that the protracted goodbye is uncomfortable for some of you. But as a midwesterner, I am prepared to stand in the doorway and raise new topics of conversation until they turn the lights off. 👋👋
Here is the thing: yes, I do a lot of ~museum talking~ here on twitter; no, I will absolutely not join a dedicated museum worker social media network. Museum people always trying to make everything into homework.
