@thatcedric@TheCyberdevil Collection Blu-rays never needed GenAI for 2, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 19, 23, 26 etc
Using higher quality scans when available, removing artifacts, regular upscaling, less compression etc
All good for improving the picture without replacing pre-existing details in the way GenAI does
@thatcedric@TheCyberdevil I was referring specifically to the generative AI upscale that may have been used for Seasons 15, 7 & 25 too but wasn't anywhere near as noticeable as the one on 13 & 21
They didn't need it for the majority of releases and they shouldn't use it now
A (relatively) quick note to respond to the (much appreciated) scores of (very nice) notes online regarding today's news about Doctor Who. My interest and record is well-established; the only real question I think the BBC would (very fairly) ask is: would British fans be open --
@straczynski Doctor Who should have a UK identity, however that has and should never stop people from many different places working on the show. A non-UK Showrunner, producer or writer who is suited for the job and makes a great era of Doctor Who should be welcomed with open arms
@callumread_ I think they should do doctors 1-12 each with their own month January to December, with 13 being January 2027 & 15 as February 2027.
Then have bonus doctors paired up eg War with Eight, Fugitive with 13, 14 with 15
The Eleventh Hour premiered 16 yrs ago. The beginning of the Eleventh Doctor's era, and still one of the best introductions to a new Doctor and era.
