*Common, But Islamically Groundless Expressions And Practices*
• 'Special Jumu'ah prayer', as if there are some Jumu'ah prayers that are ordinary and not special! This is not to talk of thousands of 'special prayers' we invented at will or recommended for us by people whose share of the knowledge of Sunnah is minimal or zero and don't give a damn whether their actions and deeds are in line with injunctions of the Qur'an and the Sunnah as implemented by the righteous predecessors (represented by the first three generations of Muslims) and those who followed them in righteousness. This 'special' thing is alien to Islaam in its pristine form. Let us do away with it. Every single act of worship a Muslim performs id special. Distinctions between them can only be made on the basis of authentic proofs. One more thing: Let us remember that our acts of worship are valid and accepted on the basis of Ikhlaas with which we perform them and our strict adherence to the Sunnah in their performance in terms of manner, time, quantity and place; not on the basis of amount of 'specialness' we confer on them!
• Opening prayers and closing prayers which are assigned to some 'spiritual' leaders (as if the rest of us are 'spiritual' followers), and for which (in some cases) everybody present must stand up, as if we are adherents of the religion of a people that have gone astray (though we beseech Allaah for, at least, seventeen times in day to keep us away from their path).
• “Holy" Prophet” and "Holy" Qur’aan.
Practices and expressions like the above are relics of another religion that our earlier 'alakowes' smuggled into our religious discourse through the back door, to make us also look 'civilized' like adherents of that religion! The earlier we determinedly drop religious practices of non-Muslims, in terms of manner and expressions and devotedly stick by the Sunnah in all our acts of worship the better and the safer for us.
It is worthwhile here to call attention to the warning of Allaah's Messenger of Allaah – sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam – as recorded by Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim on the authority of Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudree (may Allaah be pleased with him):
"Certainly, you will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit so much so that even if they entered a hole of a lizard you would follow them.' We said, 'O Allah's Messenger! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?' He said, 'Who else could they be?'"
Let’s Set the Records Straight!
There is nothing like Sunni-Islam or Shiite-Islam. Neither is there anything as Sunni/Shiite Divide (as there is nothing like Nigerian-IPOB divide, Nigerian-Bokoharam divide)! It is all an attempt to cloak a tiny but a cancerous group of renegades with a garb of legality. You are either a Muslim who is upon what the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam) and his companions were upon, or you are a renegade!
Let's put a stop to this institutional deception! Muslims are not only too noble to deceive others, they are also too wise to allow others to deceive them!
It is understandable if you find it challenging to implement certain Islamic injunctions. It happens sometimes; every Muslim – however learned or pious they seem to be – occasionally faces such challenges. However, if you believe in those injunctions and you are sincere, you will definitely get support, encouragement and supplications from your brethren – something we all need from one another – to overcome the challenges.
What is objectionable is to go out of your way and deny the legality, obligation or benefits of such injunctions, simply because you cannot implement them or you just don't want to implement them. This is the worst type of arrogance!
Islam unequivocally forbids injustice. Islam unambiguously ordains speaking against injustice. Islam clearly enjoins demanding for one's right. It is the futile means of doing so or adopting a process that leads to greater injustice and loss of more rights that Islam does not permit.
What this @Waspapping_ calls to is the classical way of the Khawārij al-Qaʿdiyyah. It's nothing but evil! They beautify protests but sit at home during protests. The best guidance is the guidance of Muḥammad ﷺ
Disclaimer: Seeing how some people in my comment section are trying to blame me for the ongoing violent protest, I want to make it clear that I didn’t leave my home to join any protest.
All I ever did was support the right to peaceful protest while informing everyone that cares to listen I wouldn’t be participating.
