@ABTimothyAuthor Use what you need. I have standards, such as using "asked" and "replied" where necessary. "Teased," "joked," etc., are also good. Not every emotion can be conveyed in dialogue. I heard the line "Yes, it is" said 5 different ways by the same actor. Clue the reader in.

Very sad. We authors struggle. Self-publishing was supposed to open things up for us. It did to a point. But all the while, we were just generating fodder for the AI beast (and a Russian pirate site).
